Did I miss the part where you already looked at Vienna Ensemble? Not sure why you’re ignoring the ready made solution that doesn’t require additional hardware and conversion and manual latency. compensation.

I've read that it's not tailored for offloading processing of FXs, although it can be done.

No. It's perfect for offloading heavy CPU FX. I use a second rig for all my Acustica stuff over Vienna Ens. I swear they'd have way more customers if they rebranded, because yeah, originally it was for film composer guys to offload their huge Vienna Symphony libraries. But now it works flawlessly with FX.

Haven’t seen my new M1’s running over 15% CPU, it’s always the software that’s shitting the bed. Being a MacOS Cubendo user makes you a pretty red-headed stepchild. ProTools in the 90's/00's taught me well to never be the one to try and storm the beach. It's kinda sucky that we're talking about a chipset that's been in market for two years this month and there's so much lag from 3rd party developers.

After doing more homework yeah I see what your talking about. Vienna Ensemble I haven't seen too many videos outside of running big instrumental libraries, but I did look into AudioGridder and that seems to do what Vienna is doing for you and what I want for me. I just wonder how everything is dealing with latency and if I'll have some huge overall delay in my main DAW when trying to playback or what exactly the compromise is when using it - if you could comment on that It'd be really helpful I experimented using analog I/O to send signal through my converter dry, receive it through same converter, process, and send back in and it works decently but is costly conversion wise. The latency seems to not be so bad if my buffer sizes are low on BOTH sessions - it’s not perfectly in time, but for a reverb/delay plug-in the latency seems good enough. Again, not too sure if doing it this way via a converter rather than a network with Audiogridder/ Vienna Ensemble pro holds any benefit yet however

When you bypass a plug-in in reaper it no longer takes resources..
