Do you guys use chambers for vocals? I choose plates 95% of the time. Capital Chambers is great - but I hardly ever use it.

Instantly sold after watching that demo video. Holy shit.
I also rarely use chambers, but I'm happy to change that after hearing those examples. Gonna have to sign up for Spark now.

I naturally overdo reverb. So am learning more about Chambers, versus Hall and Plate. I think eventually I'll sign up too. Chris

I’m just going to have to use it. To see if it works for the stuff I do. I mean - that snare. Sounds like Motown. But…

Surprise bonus for the Spark subscription! Kudos to UA for hooking me for a little longer out of curiosity.

I wait until I have a project that might benefit from something like this before doing the 14 day UAD demo. It is cool that you can demo before buying. I love the sound of Capitol Chambers, but like John said, I doubt I'd ever use it, so I won't buy. I have too many UAD plugs I never use as it is.

Sounds amazing … really brings those old Motown mixes to mind.
I’ll be waiting in the wings for a sale though…

Didn't see any info about it in the email. I just love "UA Capitol Chamber" and use it a lot. Especially for motown and JB stuff. This should be fun to test when time allows. @johnkenn If you have "Capitol Chamber" you can get the same snare as in this demo you posted. Here I used 3 microphones in the mix, mono oh U87 that went to UA Capital Chamber (had room 4 and almost at minimum size with the SM80 microphone) kit U47 and BD Amb U47 dry, that's it! Will be very exciting to test their new Motown Chamber and hope that it will be a good compliment to Capitol.

I use UA Capital Chambers heaps - it's a very iconic sound - I love it - great plugin.
I looking forward to demoing this new chamber plugin.

You know who, about you know what from ua forum ! “Bob Olhsson New Member Yesterday at 2:46 PM Add bookmark #7 I'm just thankful that Berry Gordy's sister talked him into not selling the houses so that she could create a museum. Everybody I know who worked there considers it the best sounding small studio we ever experienced. It took working elsewhere (in my case Wally Heider's) to fully realize how good it is. Something inside me screams at the thought it's a museum and people aren't still recording there. John Windt, our shop foreman, took the ideas behind RCA's studios in the mid 1960s and applied them to ours. The RCA design was all about clean, really good sounding bleed. This meant, among other things, we could record vocals with the microphone much farther back than in most studios without losing presence. As a result, we needed way less compression than is typical with really close miking. The console in Hitsville was the first I'm aware of having multiple (3) echo send busses. We often mixed combinations of the two chambers and the plate while soloing the return. The first chamber was 2648. John says he didn't know much about chambers so that one is somewhat of an accident. The 2644 chamber is a more traditional design that we used more like our EMT plate. The sends were typically filtered and equalized. We also had a Fender tape echo, an Echoplex and a Binson Echorec that could be patched in front of a chamber. That's not to mention an unused 7.5 or 15 tape machine. John restored the chambers in their different incarnations for UA and both of us were present for the final modeling and testing. It was amazing to hear that sound once again. It's even more amazing to be able to adjust the microphone positions and the balance between the drivers in the plug-in. I hope people enjoy it.“

A nice treat for those of us who bought Ultimate 10 while it was on sale. It was a hefty chunk of change ($999) but I hadn't bought a UAD plug-in for several years and it includes pretty much everything I'm interested in (and now the Hitsville EQ as well, which is really great) and I've been using the shit out the plug-ins with the introduction of Spark.
I love Capitol Chambers for longer, lush chamber sounds but on a quick test the Hitsville really works great on percussion, hand claps, snare drum, and horns. Not surprising! But I have found it to be a really hard to get good, convincing short and bright reverb sounds in the box and this does it really well.

We could start a whole new thread on the coherency of ua pricing! I thought that, UA know $260 for a reverb plugin is just plain silly in 2022 ….but it’s like “hey guys look how reasonable our subscription is compared to buying one single plugin” …. and so the merry dance continues. I have no audio subscriptions. I’ll have to wait for a sale and a voucher

Do you guys use chambers for vocals? I choose plates 95% of the time. Capital Chambers is great - but I hardly ever use it. I've been down the ladder into the real Capitol Chambers (many years ago). Those chambers are actually somewhat smaller than the chamber shown in the video. But, depending on which chamber you're using, the reverb time can reach up to several seconds. I think these chambers are actually quite good for vocals (Al Scmitt certainly thought so) for reasons similar to a plate. The reverb comes at you quite quickly because of the small dimensions and reaches its maximum density rapidly for the same reason. This is not unlike what happens in a plate. The trick to making it work is to play with the predelay so that it doesn't step all over the vocal. There's not much that a good chamber (or selection of chambers) won't work on. The first artificial reverb may still be the best. Just a little inconvenient for most folks

OK...damn. Really, really nice. Just played around with it for a while. Took me a while to get my bearings, but man, really a ton of possibilities with it. Chamber 1 with 635 max distance with 75% ish pre delay mixes in extremely well with vocals. Considering they have a 6 for $399 sale going on, I might have to jump on this. Probably the most realistic room (chamber) sound I've heard

That vocal has a rattle on it, couldn't listen past it. The whole vibe seemed great though.

I haven’t listed to the video above. I have to say - I like it better than most other chambers I’ve tried.

That is a good vocal, but it is seriously breaking up with distortion and sounds shrill. I think the chamber sound is great.
