OK I get the desire to have some budget 500 series, but calling an EQ with Fixed Q a parametric is just wrong, at the very least put a second Q setting on at least 2 of the bands! Otherwise it’s a sweep EQ and from memory far from discrete ( always been API’s big thing even if the comps use that VCA’s on a chip and the 560 as well as the ATi API are full of Non discrete op amps). So why would I expect truth in advertising?

I had the JDK eq that was the earlier branding of this design, and that was one of my complaints. I also really wanted the option of shelves on the high and low end.
That said, it is a really good-sounding eq, especially for the price.
It would be nice if they put out a fully-featured revision rather than just slapping a different brand name on the same circuit.

I remember driving 7 hours to get an APSI console that had 6 of the originals in it, long before the reissue. There was an API-adjacent lore at the time. Flipped’em. Worked out. Bought from a female country stars’ engineer boyfriend, way out in the woods. Knew I was coming but seemed coked up and paranoid. Cash only!

OK so the comp in this series is from the ATI Paragon. Well I I didn’t trust my memory from the 2 times I ever saw one. But pics on line show a true parametric, so why not a 3 a scale down 3 band? |
