Hey!
So I just released my GAP video of their new Ela M 251E microphone. We where in a stunning studio here in Sweden and did the recording. It was a fun project and we also recorded an amazing female vocalist that just came in late in the afternoon and delivered the most amazing one-take performance I've ever heard in my life. She's the kind of singer that both inspires but also makes you want to never sing again haha!
There are raw files to be downloaded but stick around and check out the performances. And I also would love to hear what you guys think!

Sidenote: I didn’t realize you are in Sweden. My best friend in high school had just moved to the US from Sweden, so I spent a lot of time at his house hearing the language of his homeland. (Including him getting into trouble with his mom and dad — all in Swedish. Ha!)
I’ve been subscribed to your YouTube channel for a while now, and always enjoy your reviews.

It seems everybody wants to sell a 251 "clone" for the $6000 mark. Lots of new entries. Will be interesting to see how they all shoot out.

Crazy to see the company known for $300 Neve closes selling something for $6k. I don’t understand why they would keep the same name for their premier line. Call it Precision Engineering of Sweden or something and they’d be a hot item.

Thanks Tim! I liked the piano but hey I mainly listened to the vocals 🙂 I wouldn't mind trying out the new 251 mic by flea 😉! |

IMHO the 251 style is the best general "fit" on your voice so far. Yes you both sounded wonderful. Inspiring! (Might have to revise my opinion on the 251 style on me someday-Hmmm...) Chris |

Finally a review that really pushes a mic; nice to see it used with a bit of distance also.
The aesthetics speak to a lot of care put into making it and these vocal takes only add to that- sounds really good.
I tend to agree; if the name wasn't Gap, it would give it more chance when there is so much competition.

Geez, you could have recorded her on and SM57 and I still wouldn't have been able to stop watching. What a voice! You sound great here too.
The mic sounds really nice. There are a lot of options out there right now, especially at this price range. I would love to hear this next to the UA/Bock 251 and new FleA ELA M 251. Maybe even hear it next to the Upton which is a tad cheaper.

BTW Tom Dowd usually recorded Aretha with an EV 666 at Atlantic. Especially when she was singing/playing piano. So EV 666/RE20 ought to be gangbusters too, for her particular vocal type. Chris P.S. Tommy James' vocals on his hits, were mainly on his personal 251. Another great reference. |
