I just saw Stam are taking orders for theirs again. It seemed to get pretty positive reviews as has the Beesneez which is more or less the same price.
Any one get to compare the two?
are there others out there? I know the Soundelux one is supposed to be a more modern take.

Well, I have the SA-67, but haven't heard the Beesneez. To me, my 67 sounds somewhere between a new one and a vintage one. Stam has a bunch of vintage 67's to compare to, and they modeled theirs after his favorite one.
I've found the Neumann's with a tube to be quite specific to individual voices. You're either compatible, or not so much.
If I wanted an all-rounder, I'd get a U87. That thing pretty much sounds good on everything.

I've "only" sang/tried the U99* and the BU67. Both lovely sounding microphones.
One factor is if budget is a concern, the BU67 is around $1000 less, here in the US.
The 67 style is a winner on me, especially on Ballads and/or Harmonies. Chris P.S. I have a U195, non-tube version of U99.

I have been really impressed with the Beezneez clips I’ve heard. Yeah, a pair of the Beesneez is definitely on my prospective list one of these days.

The beesneez and stam are pretty much the same price. But didn’t realize the U99 shared anything with the U195 - I have a pair of those I’m quite fond of!

If you're comfortable with a soldering iron and have some DIY experience, there is also the "build your own vintage spec U-67" route. One of my pandemic projects was a pair of U-67 clones with Beezneez capsules, AMI transformers and NOS Telefunken tubes. I try not to think too much about what I spend on gear, but would guess the ballpark price was around €1000-1500 for the pair (?). They sound gorgeous, and there are some interesting build challenges, if you like those. PCBs and build instructions at www.vintagemicrophonepcbkit.com/DU67.html

I really liked the Beesneez when I had it in here, even if I did have the S2 mod switch in the wrong position while demoing it. Hoping to get it back in here in a week or two and record some more samples, particularly with Emily.. The various options provided, S2 mod, M269 mode, etc, make it seriously versatile. I’ve heard the Stam through a friend’s recordings and it sounded very good, not as polished as his U67 reissue, but very nice. If Stam has them readily available it could be a nice choice. The Soundelux looks interesting, but I haven’t been able to hear any clips except from an early model that didn’t have the high end lift and high end rolloff. So I don’t know what those options sound like. It is certainly more open than a U67 in standard mode. I would also point out that the head basket is different. The head basket design on the U67 contributes to the sound and how you capture sound, as it helps reduce the proximity effect for close miking, so that difference is probably noticeable.

Paul G has both U67 and U99. My U195 is the most recent version. The new UA87 is the same mic, just re-branded. I used to prefer the FAT switch always on. Now usually FLAT. It's just a teeny bit bright at the top. But smooth bright. Good for cutting through a Mix. FAT for special effect. Chris P.S. I love the 67 style on Ballads. When my extended honeymoon with dynamics ends, I may well get a 47 style too. (In addition to the BU67) If my exceptional Oktava 319 doesn't hold me back.

We are indeed making another (possibly last) run.
I've found a stash of NOS EF86 tubes which has made this project possible for a limited time and servicing after.
If you want to hear the SA-67 it is microphone B on this comparison.
If anybody wants to compare the SA-67 to your U67 (or other clones) I am happy to send units over when parts are. I am pretty confident you will be very pleased.

It's funny to think about the Gates gear that used either EF86's or 5879's, back when none of this stuff was hard to find or expensive people wanted the EF86 versions "because the internet said so", even though they are essentially the same circuits and parts. You'd be hating a re-tube now!

Today’s Stam FB post: “The SA-67 will be back for a limited run at the end of the year. We have managed to secure a large NOS EF86 tube stash which has made this possible again. Don’t miss out on yours, already half of them have been taken. 400 USD discount for pre-orders. stamaudio.com/shop/microphones/sa-67/“

Hi Guys, I'm in Nashville, North Downtown. I'm directly across the street from the Nashville Farmer's market and Bi-Centennial Park, five minutes from Germantown and the Gulch.
If anyone would like to compare their mics, I have the Stam 67 and the Stam 47 here. You're welcome to come on by, just hit me up.

From website:
“Since the capsule represents 90% of the microphones tone we have decided to take extra care and use the best available capsule. The Braingasm K67 capsule is based on a 1960’s vintage set of original back plates which offers a much greater vintage tone than alternative offerings. It utilizes brass rings to secure the Mylar and nylon screws to isolate the capsule halves. Unlike similar offerings that feature Chinese-made capsules, the CT67 is the only fully european made K87 reproduction on the market today.“

Well it is no longer my capsule. I made my CT67 capsule as a stop gap solution when Stam needed a replacement for the Heiserman. I am too busy with my CT12's and OEM work I do for other customers right now to restart production of my CT67
And lots of new designs like:

Just to clarify: The new SA-67's will not use Tim's capsules like Tim stated.
I've instructed our webmaster to clean up the text and specs so there is no confusion which should be done by tomorrow.

Holy Smokes Batman! A Campbell 37/38 type capsule! Are you already a source of those for a microphone manufacturer? Whenever it’s possible for you, I’ve got to get hands on one; just like a CT67.
