M1 Mac - Anything still not working?

I'm 99% through a clean install. It's really only been some legacy freeware things that haven't been updated in years, for me. If there's a relatively new version of something, it's worked.

Plugins.

This is one of those moments I'm glad I limit my plug exposure, not tons of 3rd party here.

Way too many. Need to cut back. But, bought Softube Dynamite today anyway. 😂😂

Depends if you mean working or working natively. Everything is working for me through Rosetta, even stuff that’s not supposed to be.

I thought I was going to have to update to the newest autotune but my old 8.1 which is listed as incompatible is working fine. The Lexicon reverbs which are infamously neglected by their developers work fine, even though Lexicon doesn’t list them as compatible. That’s the story with all the plugins I’ve tried.

I haven’t had any issues at all on the newer versions of Monterey. People were having tons of issues on Monterey 12.1 and 12.2. Update to the newest Monterey and you should be fine with just about everything. I do wish Avis would get it together and release a native pro tools but honestly it wouldn’t make any difference for me. These computers have more power than I will probably ever need.

How about Waves? If I'm out of WUP, will I need to re-WUP?

What about the Acoustica stuff? How's that on the M1 machines? I stopped trying with my previous machine. Are they worth installilng?

Relab, Some Sonnox Oxford, PSP Triple Meter. Do I need these? No but I like them.
Exponential Audio is pretty much not coming to Apple silicon. I like those reverbs and Excalibur a lot but they're pretty much dead.

Any intel written code should work in rosetta, only isdue would be os and plug in code compatibility.

I had read that rosetta skinning happens once , first time and didn’t notice much (any?) ongoing cpu inefficiency.

I ended up just not updating any softwares that weren’t m1 compatible, so I could just focus on recording work not messing with the computer.

Basically , zero issues and great performance: it just gets the job done.

I have reluctantly recorded on a computer since the early 1990’s and have never had this issue before. I primarily use hardware for everything and this just helps keep things that way 😊. Yes, I use plugins just not a lot of them and yes some of them are very good. Hopefully I will figure this out or just give up on saving my own presets for a while. I’ll survive it either way.

Instead of asking how about this or that...isn't it faster just to go to the developer website?

I just updated my Sonnox stuff after a long wait. Had to just keep checking in. But some developers have some plugs updated, but not all. Like sonnible in my case.


One thing that has helped me tremendously was this little app developed by a gal at the purple site, called PlugInfo. You can find it on the AppStore. Not only does it tell you what architecture the plugin is set up for (Intel 32, Intel 64, or Apple), but it gives you links to the developer page right from the app. And what was really a blessing for me after going through things is it has the links in your file system to where the plugin is and you can easily move outdated stuff to a "not used" folder. Just a month or so ago Logic was taking several minutes to boot up because it was checking more than 400 plugins. Now it checks about nine or so and boots in seconds. I just had tons of older plugins that for some reason didn't get flushed out when they were updated.

Sure. I could, just figured why not have a convo here and see what I learn along the way. Plus, for something like acoustica, I'd like to hear real world experience.

That purple (I think) pultec package sounded killer, but wasn't worth blowing up my sessions on my last machine so I just gave up on them.
