Looking for a nice headphone amp for the control room. Mostly for checking mixes. Sometimes I like wearing headphones while tracking bass in the control room too.
The Little Labs looks promising, and has some useful extra features. Anybody use it and love it?
Is there something else I should be considering? RNHP?

I have the RNHP and it works great for me. I do see a lot of praise for the Little Labs one, probably more so. When I was deciding, the Neve was on sale, and it's been really solid with my HD650s.

I have the Little Labs Monotor and I love it. If I was a mixer I think it would be invaluable because of all the tweaks it allows - "Extensive mono monitoring options: left-plus-right, left, right, and left-minus-right Ideal for checking phase and analyzing artifacts in compressed digital files"

The one in my merging technologies hapi is the best I've heard. So an Anubis would be nice. I/o too. And mastering grade converters.
Or I use grace units a lot. Even the m900 has a ton of features in it. Like the little labs one. Not as many I/o I think though.

Love my Monotor. Digging the through, and just going to mono on cans w/ out opening UAD Console is a godsend.

Another question for the room~ that I suppose could apply to any headphone amp, but I'm specifically curious about the Little Labs:
Does using a passive attenuator after the headphone amp degrade quality in any way? I'm thinking with the Monotor it could be useful to bypass the volume knob (sending full signal out), and run a balanced cable out of headphone output to the back of the control room for listening/overdubs. Plug balanced cable into passive attenuator and plug phones into that.

I use it for critical listening and with a JBL Nano Patch+ to do exactly what you're wanting to do with it; I've not noticed any degradation. I also use the Monitor to demo our Microphones at shows.

RNHP here...because the 5088 didn't come with a headphone amp! 😉
I have used/use a wide variety of cans with the RNHP. Never an issue. Recommended.

I use a Monotor for most of my critical ribbon mic listening.
Sounds great, has plenty of gain, and has a great feature set.

An audiophile friend called me up a couple of years ago after years of esoteric amps to drive his HD650’s he found this really esoteric bargain, Yup it was the Little Labs Monitor laughed for about a week.

Researching ASR, looks like a Topping DX3 or DX5 are at the top for DAC->HPamp

I'm not trying to hijack, just trying to avoid a very similar thread. If not ok, just tell me.
anyone have experience with the Grace M900 or SPL Phonitor One?

I have experience with neither (how's that for helpful???), but that Grace sure looks handy! I use an RME Babyface Pro for this application ~ overkill for what you're needing, but handy to also have an interface in my laptop bag.

Another +1 for the LL Monotor. Sounds amazing and the features are stellar. Do you guys feel it’s a noticeable difference from the headphone amp in interfaces? My Apollo (third gen) plays clean and loud(er than the previous generations) but I haven’t had the chance to compare against a great, dedicated amp.

My buddy borrowed mine for a month or so and ended up buying one when I needed it back. Vintage Neve console and those Audeze phones that everyone likes a lot. He loved the Monotor. Lots of great options though so don't let me oversell it.

I know this wasn't my thread so please tell me to shut up if needed but a similar issue so I am not looking to create a new thread if avoidable.
I received and am listening to the Hidizs S9Pro DAC/HP Amp. In the Audiophile boards, it is seen as a close second to the beloved E1DA 9038D which is unavailable now. They also tested the Grace M900 and make the same claim about IT as well, being interchangeable with the E1DA 9038D.
The Hidizs S9Pro is the size of a bic lighter. It's pretty interesting. As I listen, I am running Audio Hijack with Sound ID set to my DT1900s. I am hearing things in songs I have listened to for years and hadn't heard. I''m not going to begin to compared headphones to speakers - that'd be silly. My hope is simply that I can do decent work in the hotel and not lose an evening when I don't have to.
The Grace has a feature called "Cross-Feed Circuit" which combines left and right a bit to seem more natural - again, not comparing to speakers, per se.
In the end, I want a solid tool when the LYD48s and 8330s aren't with me. Now that I learned how to use the 8330s (lol) and am learnign them pretty well, I could take those locally pretty easily. Heavy little bricks.
I'm ordering the Grace next week and will compare them to the Hidizs. Should be fun.
EDIT... Oh, the Hidizs is a great tool to play from your phone or ipad into a PA - good little DAC and fits in your pocket.
