I recently demoed Sound ID thinking I might upgrade from Reference 4. Had a few issues that were ironed out but ultimately didn't care for some of the sonic changes to S.ID headphone profiles from Reference 4. It could very well be I was biased to what I was used to and resistant to change not giving Sound ID a fair chance, but I passed on upgrading to Sound ID from reference 4 for now.
Are those of you who upgraded to Sound ID getting improved mixes over reference 4, or was it same to similar results?

I’ve said it before, but SW was a revelation when I got it. Really improved my mixes. I’ve since gone to Trinnov as you can find on the board elsewhere. Reading this and I need to go back and forth again with Trinnov and SW. I’ve done it a couple of times and thought Trinnov won every time, but I really need to listen and see post what I think the differences are. Obviously, there are the obvious time domain and phase things…but I’m talking about “sonically.” And real world. As a long term Sonarworks user myself (although I've stuck with Reference 4) I'd be interested in any differences you notice between it and Trinnov in practical real world terms John. Martin

I’m in the same boat Johnkenn. I have both but have always maintained that Sonarworks gets you 90% of the way there….and that last 10% is very expensive with the Trinnov! I look forward to your findings.

Just going back and forth right now...
The difference is pretty dramatic. I actually had to double check that SoundID was actually on. Not trying to be hyperbolic.

I was thinking about trying it, but now... no thanks. I’m on M1 and never have stability issues. I didn’t on the older machine either, honestly Hmmmm....I'm also on an M1. Maybe it's the interaction with my Metric Halo 3D units. The plugin had been working flawlessly up until I did an update, and even it shit the bed -- thus, this thread.
Now, the plugin is working fine and the systemwide is pretty robust. It'll bugger-up if unused for several hours.

The reason I updated is for the frequency slider. It allows me to have sonarworks only correct the bottom end of my room and leaves the mid/top uncorrected. Otherwise I don’t notice any real difference.
