I found this over on the purple site. I really think this could the biggest deal in the world to me in terms of drum capture and mixing. I do use samples of the actual kit. I usually cut all the rolls and flams and place them on a track with the replaced single velocity hits. The only reason I usually do this is to eliminate the bleed. This thing could definitely fix that for me. drumatom.com/Mac release this fall, PC users will have to wait unfortunately.

I'm very interested in it .

No kidding. How great will that be...if it works. So many snare channels that have so much cymbal and hh bleed.

HENGE! Good to see you here!
At least from the vids it seems to completely eliminate spill from other drums. Love it. Will be buying as soon as I can.

GO LEAFS GO and that Drumatom. I can't get over the vids. What I usually do is strip silence. and try to get the last bit of hat swoosh out and it's close but at the cost of removing the sustain of the drum, which then leads me to adding some samples. This will eliminate it. I'm positive that if this app does what it claims to I will be the biggest fan boy of it.

wonder if it works by side chaining ?
Looks interesting.
cheers

Well, for those enthusiasts and those interested in the principles that stand behind this kind of software, i.e. Blind Source Separation.... There is a free open software toolkit dedicated to these kind of tasks: openblissart.github.io/openBliSSART/I came across this one some time ago, researching for some signal processing questions... It kind of works really ok if you are clear about what kind of material you feed in and how many sources you want it to recognize and seperate from each other. Well, for the more technically interested who are not afraid of a bit of software engineering and working in terminal windows and at command lines.... And no, for several reasons i am not able to provide binary editions , sorry. Most other stuff on this topic is only available in matlab sources, so i kept that one in my bookmarks. Best regards, Martin.

Well. A little bit more explanation what this stuff is all about....
It has nothing to do with gating or simple filtering or the like. It is more like a mathematical problem solution. You have several sources of audio, mixed into one signal. In the worst case you don't even have a hint, how many sources. I.e. if you have echos or a mixture of voices with unknown number. Then, you try to use artificial intelligence techniques to identify and synthesize the single sources of audio by several optional principles. There is no other way to do this properly because you have not enough information, so you have to work with propabilities and optimize the parameters for the different a.i. algorithms for the individual task. Drum or percussion sources are some of the kind of signals that probably are easier to be seperated than, say hundreds of different voices, so the best algorithms may be tweakable for really good results, plus, if you only have a known number of sources (i.e. the number of drum tracks), results may be really good after some research and testing. I guess the guys from the drumatron just blend the original signal with the mathematically synthesized/separated source, which is something really completely different to gating. Another guess: The option to blend this makes it less obvious, that you really have a synthesized drum that may sound partly unnatural if used solely... But well, nice idea nevertheless. And huge practical value....
Best regards, Martin

wow, not a sidechained gate with automatic release then LOL
thanks for that, very interesting, in a propellerhead kind of way 8)
cheers

Mac only for the launch, don't think it's out yet either way. Still keeping my eye on it.

This is HUGE! Granted it really works as well as in the promo video. I'll be buying it as soon as it's available.

Testing it tonight. I am excited, but $399 is steep, though. And it can't be integrated with a daw yet either. It's like Melodyne, but without the option to run it as a plugin.
It better be as unbelievable as in the promo clip...

Going by what's been said, I assume this isn't a real time process?

Definitely no real time processing. There is a bit of magic in it, but not clairvoyance. They officially say they are based on BSS techniques, and these need to compare bigger chunks / the whole data sets to get usable results with their algorithms. Yes, interesting, interesting...............DOWNLOAD!!!

$399 is way more than I expected. Really not that interested anymore, and I received A LOT of terribly-recorded drum kits that could benefit from this.
