What dessers are you guys into. I haven't 'renewed' or whatever my IK stuff since my upgrade, because I don't feel like dealing with their whole 'install everything' method. Plus I was never totally confident they didn't add latency (their comps never worked right in parallel...) But I did like the desser. It has a lot of cool features including a more 'notch like' feature by using the 3 band option, plus different db/octave choices.
So, anything similar/better?
What are you into, and why?

FabFilter DS is good. I like the SofTube Weiss one a litter better.

Used to be Pro-DS, but lately I’ve been loving Techivation T-De-Esser. I don’t know if I’d call it transparent, but whatever it’s doing sounds really sweet to my ears.

Renaissance DeEsser in split mode does the trick for me in all but a handful of cases. Before that I used Fabfilter.
Waves Sibilance is great too but it's more tweak-y, and I can usually get faster results from just dropping in RenDeEsser with the default preset.

FabFilter Pro-DS has been my go-to for years. I can’t find a fault with it. Love it.

I'm a Fab Filter guy for years. Easy to set and it works without too much degradation. Used others but always go back to this.

Worth checking out Sooth2. Works very nicely for most things!

DSEQ is great at detecting and zapping only the offending frequencies, and it sounds natural to me. Similar concept to Soothe 2 but works even better IMO.

Weiss De-esser gets the most use here over the last couple-three years. Very flexible.

2 stage approach here lately of DBX 902 going in, & Nova GE later to fine tune. I Keep meaning to try DSEQ for more broad mix stuff.

I like the Massey, and I used to use the Digirack one that is free with Pro Tools too.
These days I use the T-racks one and I just drag all the IK plugs I don't own to the unused plugins folder so I never have to think about them again.
(I own several IK plugs that I get a lot of use out of).

I really like the PA Lindell 902. A good improvement over the LSR version.

I can’t seem to figure out the IK de-esser. I have to crank it way up to get it to do anything. I must be missing something. Other similar plugins seem to work as expected on the same sources. I actually really like the one in the SSL vocalstrip plug-in. Find that plug-in very useful.

fab filter here for a long while. just stupid simple to use and not much of a CPU hit, compared to Soothe or one of my other options.

Thanks, folks. There's a couple of things I've never heard of, so I appreciate that.

Thanks, folks. There's a couple of things I've never heard of, so I appreciate that. Not that you need yet more suggestions, Tony, but in addition to several of the options listed above, I also use DMG Audio's two different deessers quite regularly: TrackDS and Essence. Waves Sibilance is also nice, and pretty damn transparent.

Do you guys use multi-band compressors too? Recently I've begun to mainly use automation to edit vocals that have spitty formants and big "esses" and "T's". It's tedious, but feels a bit more natural. I'd love to just pop on a compressor for the main vocal and be done, but none of the software compressors I've used quite do it for me.
Perhaps a good hardware compressor like the Retro 176 or a Tube Tech CL1b would do that trick for me?

That's essentially what the LA-2A was made for, a decent emulation or actual 2A should roll off the high's and smooth a few things out. Stam's version was just as good as the Tele's for me, not sure about Audioscape.
