into a mix. It had kind've befuddled me for the longest so I just never used it. But I read up and then stuck it on Kick and Bass. And wow...
All of those times I'd feel like a certain bass note would "disappear," I'd kinda attribute it to compression. But it was phase issues all along. Pi dynamically pulls the kick and bass into phase and now you can distinctly hear them punch together. I really, really love what it's done to the bottom. Highly recommend.
Haven't really been able to use it on like acoustics and electrics - adds artifacts. Also - I was running a parallel send from my Drumbus to a Zener to add some oomph and dirtyness. But PT's delay comp won't compensate high enough for the send when I have Pi added...so I abandoned that for the time being.

Didn't know there was more than one. The UAD one.

Setting the Low cut to 300, switching to limit and then fast release attack to taste...driving the input...can really give a massive dirty sound.

You know...we talk about "punch" so much and attribute it to transformers, etc. Wonder if a lot of what we DON'T hear is because of phase issues?

Yes, I think there’s something to that, minimally mic’d kits don’t always cut through a dense mix as you’d want (e.g. because you can’t just turn up a floor Tom hit or whatever) but they do sound pretty dang punchy absent issues of frequency masking and arrangement. And then another obvious one, but the way the drummer hits is a huge part of the equation. The Pros I’ve cut can make about anything sound good.

I used it for a while, but have collected dust lately. I can not use it in Luna. It requires a lot of buffer size and Luna has fixed buffer "bummer". It can be used on a few channels. But if you want to use on more channels, it does not take long before Luna buffer says no. There is the weak link with Luna, Buffer size, up sampled plugins and graphics. Auto Align is another hero that is worth checking out. But likes PI better because it does not align the tracks, but keeps the distance intact but only corrects the phase reversal. Sound Radix makes smart plugins

Haha...anything that helps the artistic purpose is the right thing to do, John! Yep, same here with kick in/out, there AA does the job perfectly. When PI got his rest, I had to work a little more in the studio with the phase. So there was something good about Luna fix buffer. I could not be a lazy worm
