A pair of Soyuz 013 FETs are permanently stationed above my drum kit. Unpopular opinion, but I really like my KM184s into an Avedis MA5 for acoustic guitar. Absolutely nothing wrong with a KM184 on any acoustic instrument if you can keep it on axis.

Except 184 cymbals....here they always needed to be 80º off axis to lose the treble boost.....point over the cymbals away from the drums.....off axis is fine..... : )

I like the 184, 3 or 4 feet from an acoustic source -- captures the whole instrument, at that distance, with fidelity.

I’m not sure if he has it posted any where but if You were to PM Mike over at that other site I’m sure he would share the files. I don’t know him. I’m out in LA on vacation I’ll see if I can get a hold of Mike when I get back.

Wow thanks for reminding me, I have both of these and forgot about them. gotta try em out again. I like how the cardiode is side address…. Hey Rob There is reason why a C535 was the winner in the “no longer in production class” in the Giant SDC shoot out Mike Jasper put together a number of years ago ( I can’t remember which of my 5 it was). All the Sony SDC’s are cardiod. And yes the Side address 6’s are great in tight spaces. I have a pair of Omni and a pair of cardiode

184’s are fine. Kinda bright and not my first choice but they by no means suck.

Right? I think the only things I've taken from my dad are maybe some hand tools.

Gee and all I inherited were 3 tubas, OK 2 payed for the Radar and the Civil war era Calvery horn should pay for the kids college. Sony never, really understood pro audio other than ENG they sold a small market TV station an OXFORD ( I’m not going to bitch cause how many of you ever played with an OXFORD it was wonderful yeah I was lucky). We managed to to get a bunch of high profile TV to adopt the wireless, but the studio tools other than the Dash and DAT machines was just a fight.

Been using Oktava 012’s forever and they’re so instantly familiar to me. Finally picked up a Joly modded 012 a few months ago, and now I get it. It’s the 012 sound I always would try to eq in after the fact.
I’ve also liked Gefell m70’s and AT pro 37’s.
