we are on the fence about it right now. we currently have our booth booked and plans made but a lot of the big companies are already pulling out of the show... Feels a lot like musikmesse did when pro audio switched halls and it became a ghost town.

Most likely, I'll be able to make 2 days of it. Not quite the same without Mike Rivers there. Chris

This is why I asked.I would really like to see all my friends in the industry though after such a long time.

I started to plan a couple months ago, only to hear from a few manufacturers, who are solid attendees, have decided not to go. I took that as a sign and decided to scrape the idea.

More opportunity for the medium to small companies then IMHO. Easier to have an in depth conversation. I think there's some benefit, to less chaos. Most likely, I'll be able to make 2 days of it. Not quite the same without Mike Rivers there. Chris P.S. I expect it to be easier to attend workshops/"talks"/etc. too. Not really, NAMM and summer NAMM more than winter is a buying show, the mom and pop dealers write almost all their big orders at NAMM. If the big guys don’t come, mom and pop don’t come. The smaller guys bitch about the cost vs traffic. The next year the whole thing gets scaled back.

Will be there as an 'attendee'. Looking forward to it. It feels like 10 years since the last one I was at in June of 2020.

Why aren’t manufacturers going? Travel is a consistent mess, everything is back ordered, nobody wants to talk about price increases.

When small manufactureres see the large ones pulling out they know attendance will be down and they might actually lose money by going, For me NAMM/ AES are the few times I get to see my friends in the industry. If they don't come my motivation disappears.

If they don't come my motivation disappears. Yeah the thing that a lot of people don’t understand is that for some shops NAMM is the only time they have face time with their manufacturer or rep. It always amazes me how many small dealers will only deal directly with the manufacturer and not a distributor even if it would save them money.

I know some are going, but the couple of important people that I spoke with were an adamant "no". Personally, I've done so many NAMM and AES shows that I could really care less about the show itself. I can find out whatever I want on the internet. It's only about seeing friends and close manufacturer relationships (like Audioscape for instance - who I believe is going) for me. At this point, I'm on the fence. Leaning towards staying home and working.... I'll try to keep making a little instead of spending a LOT!

You know what isn’t increasing? My paycheck. Just got an Audioscape price increase email. Found out the Kawai digital piano I’ve been saving for increased by 600 dollars overnight. My pay rate stayed the same.

Most manufacturers have held out for as long as they could. Cutting their margins over and over. I give em huge props!!!! Eventually, things had to break. Inflation is at a 40 year high right now. Mortgage interest rates doubled 3 days ago. It's rough all over....and quite possibly going to get worse. My pay rates? Like all creatives, they are going down, not even staying the same.

Since I am representeded by a Democrat and two Republican senators I can apolitically laugh at that response my friend🤪. But seriously we are in the combination of a world health crisis, that we managed to live through by the skin of our economic teeth. We have a war that could devolve into world war three, in other words we are in broad technical economic terms screwed. And not by my former neighbor the worlds cutes economist because we might like that.

Economic Reality. Despite all the excuses You can't pump almost 10 Trillion dollars into the debit pool and not expect the Kool Aid to get diluted. Therefore you need to give more of the devalued dollars to purchase the same goods. An upward spiral that will never come down.

No point because nearly everything has been on backorder for over a year. Pick a line... Fender PRS Focusrite Roland Tama etc all playing catch up. Last show either attended was January 2020 and even those orders weren't 100% filled. One of those guys told me they havent seen their Hoshino rep (Ibanez & Tama) for about a year.

Very likely I'll make that if it happens since it's practically in my backyard.
