Until the new year you can get a black Warm WA47Jr for $200... think I'll be doing this one, it's a pretty cool mic (I have a silver one.)

I picked up Kotelnikov GE for $7.50 and SlickEQ Mastering for $9 at AudioDeluxe, then proceeded to Pluginboutique and added Molot GE for $14. Oh wow, it doesn't even seem right that they're that cheap! Even at full price on the TDR website, the bundle still one of the best deals in audio. Most money for perpetually expensive plugins goes to advertising, contracted out programming, and copy protection scheme licensing rather than development. Ancient 90s and early 2000s code still is marked up heavily. There are exceptions of course like U-he but even they have a 25% coupon this Black Friday. Tokyo Dawn’s wants everyone who uses the free versions to convert to the paid. The free plugs are the best advertising around and they have people buying them who have never bought any other plugins or just a couple waves plugs years ago. It’s a very shareware mentality. They also have a following like U-he and some of the amp sim developers like Overloud and Mecurial where their musician customers might not be buying any other third party plugins. I know guys who have an Apollo Twin and only use the Softube Plexi it came with and what’s in their daw.

So the HF excitement feature on Slick EQ...... talk about useful, man...
It's amazing how much LESS literal boosts I have to make when incorporating that feature, and in doing so the source sounds natural - just brighter. It sounds exceptionally smooth to my ear, if any of you guys also use this feature, I'd love to know your thoughts. Hope its not just honeymoon effect! Really digging the TDR stuff.

Waste of money. I bought a few of these a couple years ago and you look at them and they die. Do not recommend.

I got two of the el cheaparoo Reverb cables a while back too. One was dead immediately, and the second one I still have around but rarely use. So for the price, expect the possibility of some duds among them.

I don't really want to buy any more plugins but might dig through the basement and try to find something I can sell to justify InfiniStrip. I think it would be incredibly useful at the tracking space. Also tempted by DSM V3.

Also sprang for Softube's Model 72 on sale at $43 for some mini fun. how is the softube model 72? i am still playing with logic‘s retro synth ... i am interested in the softube model 72 and the pa knifonium.

I haven't thouroughly tested it, but so far it's good for spoken word, decent for singing, decent for a dark acoustic guitar sound, and right now I have it on outside kick, which it does just fine. In the future I mean to test it on guitar amps, saxophone, maybe drum room also, first things.

Chad from Signal Arts, who designed this mic, has said in the past that it’s not supposed to sound like a 47 FET. It’s tranformerless for one thing. More of an inexpensive studio all rounder if I remember correctly.

acustica sale is on.. grabbed el ray and sienna. anyone chasing taupe, now is the time I'm tempted by el rey. Has anyone compared it with the Fuse VCL-25A?
Is there a trail/demo link for el rey ? I couldn't find one.

I just got the Sonnox Restore and Oxford Reverb. These are actually pretty demanding on the cpu and must be quite complex algorithms. Then I grabbed NSEQ from PA. I might have gotten more if they had their old pricing and coupon usage. Acustica's sale is far less generous than before. The UAD sale was nothing great either, unless you get a huge bundle. Can't even get a $25 coupon. Plus we have to pay all this sales tax. The trend I'm seeing is that companies are generally trying to get us to pay a lot more for old releases while holding back on the new stuff. So, I decided to find the least expensive used VSX and paid cash for it. Slate's black friday deal was "you get to spread the payments out over two years". VSX will probably be much more useful than a ton of plugins. I've gone back and started using stuff I haven't touched in a while like VSC-2 and SPL Passeq. And my results are better than what I was doing last week using trials of a bunch of UAD and Acustica stuff.

yes, there’s a trial in Aquarius. Thanks Mark ! No problem! Also, if you’re a Nebula user, it’s worth checking out TimP’s Ra6 plugin. I actually might like it better than El Rey, and it sips CPU. You need regular Nebula, though, not Nebula Player.
