I picked up the Molot and Slick Eq Ge and mastering version. I am wondering if I should have picked up the Kotelnikov. So maybe someone can respond to Quint and myself. Thanks! I'm slowly starting to use Kotelnikov GE on a more regular basis. For when Molot is too colored (or whatever), Kotelnikov gives a little more pristine kind of thing, but still has some sort of character. For $10 I would jump on it.

Bought the Kotelnikov for $8 because audiodelux had a coupon for about $2 due to buying the sonnox eq a couple months ago. And they also provided a melda eq for free - that they claim is a $60 value! What an incredible world! Thank you!

I'm in the same boat but with Nova: I use the regular version often but never feel I need the GE's extra features. The high quality mode might be worth it though....

The thing that would draw me to Nova GE would be the additional bands. That's an easy one for me. I'm hoping that the next version of Slick EQ, if it ever comes out, has more than 3 bands. Although it's fine now. Just wishful dreaming.

I hear you on Slick though. I love working with gear that is limited but what it does, it does very well (I'd put Slick in this camp). When using API for example, I find I prefer the 4-band 550b for general EQing over the 3-band 550a. The A is killer though and if that's all I had I would cry zero tears.

Especially for Molot (and Kotelnikov if/when you get it) watch the Dan Worall videos ASAP!!! They will help you fly the aircraft. I'll be sure to check those videos out. I just picked up the GE versions of Molot, Kotelnikov, and SlickEQ. I've used the free version of SlickEQ before, and liked it, but I'm glad to now have the GE version. I didn't pick up any of the other TDR stuff on sale, like the limiter, or Nova, or the mastering eq. Should I have? Yes. The entire suite is that good. Even de-edger. You’ll wonder what most of these other developers are doing.

After all the RGO praise I just picked up TDR Molot GE and Limiter 6 GE Especially for Molot (and Kotelnikov if/when you get it) watch the Dan Worall videos ASAP!!! They will help you fly the aircraft. I'll certainly be watching Dan Worrall in action for his Molot GE minutiae, as I can already hear from the presets that it's stunningly versatile. Don't worry about me and Kotelnikov GE - I've had that for ages and use it subtly on my stereo buss on every track (generally no more than 2dB gain reduction). For anyone still hesitating, the Slick EQs are also instant go-to's for me, both the VOS GE for track duties, and the M version on my stereo buss for final tweaks. As it happens, I've now bought all the TDR GE versions - DeEdger is the only product in their entire range I don't own.

The short version, for me, is: On Molot, be aware of the Alpha Sigma dial and how the complete extremes sound differently. Alpha more like a DBX or something, fast and snappy. Sigma more relaxed like an LA2A or something, at least that's how I sort of hear it. Almost two compressors for the price of one, here. On Kotelnikov the Peak Crest knob is important. Higher values give more dynamic range (crest factor) for a more...open sound? Less squash, higher peaks above the RMS (VU) level of the signal. Or you can set it hard left or hard right for peak, or RMS compression, only. Don't know if I described that properly, but those are the two "Must know" controls on these compressors, for me.

The manuals tell you a lot more than Worral and they have info in them that is important to grasp! Kotelnikov is so good because it’s one of those compressors that can take 20-30 db off and your barely hear it! What other digital comp is as clean? Weiss DS-1? Presswerk? Molot GE They’re all more colored. Even the peak control of Unisum is not nearly as good and the distortion sounds too much like a distressor

Thanks monkeyxx for the advice about the Alpha-Sigma dial on Molot GE (that does seem to be the key to full understanding) Thanks Dan - I have already watched Holger Lagerfeldt's video on Kotelnikov GE (it appealed to the steampunk in me ), and downloaded his useful PDF of starting point presets, but I suspect I'll benefit from watching the video again, as it's so well presented and thought through. Bought the TDR full bundle for 155$ since I wanted the de-edger. And with the Deluxebux plus 15% off with code FALL21 I couldn't resist the new Waves SSL for only 20$....

Plugin Boutique has TDR Molot GE for ~$16. I saw the other TDR deals from Audio Deluxe mentioned, but this one seems to be a more recent development.
I also grabbed the AAS Lounge Lizard upgrade for $50 since I’ve been keeping tabs on it for a few years.

Thanks for the heads up on Molot. Wish the PA voucher worked on the new Warble plug in. There's a cassette effect in Mixbox that does wow and flutter etc. in case you aren't aware. (The PA one does look cool though).

Just picked up th-u on sale. Sonarworks has $54 upgrade to soundID if you’re still on 4 like me. I’m looking for a deal on a good clipper for mix bus and guitars.
