Nice. Love the Overloud amp sims. Downloaded.
Immediately stopped PT from booting. Force quit. Re-booted. Extremely slow boot. When this happens I get very suspicious. Will keep an eye on it.
Haven't used it yet, but looks cool as long as it doesn't destabilize the system (which it seems to.....)

Nice! Just downloaded and excited to hear how it compares to the SoundToys Micro Shift.

THX got it, and it's WoW very different to the UAD one, were there different versions of the DD? Oversampling mode sounds much different....

It's two years ago, you never told us that you like the amps sims... Works flawless with logic X - you may drop them a line, and they may fix it.

Thanks!
I see why it's free, though. I'm just going by memory, but it really doesn't compare well to the UAD version.

Booooooo….not what I was wanting to hear. I miss the UAD one. Actually, now that I’ve got more I/O, maybe I’ll just buy the Behringer thing.

Was stoked to snag this as I’m always contemplating forking out the $50 or whatever to get the uad one when there is a sale. Haven’t used yet - I’m in editing hell for the rest of the week, but I claimed it for now

I’ve already burned my dimension d demo…so can’t compare. Gonna try the Roland version that still shows in my plugs.

The UAD Dimension D and the Soundtoys Micro-Shift sound different. I end up using the Soundtoys plug much more often because I like the Wet/Dry function and it always fits in tracks better. Please don't tell me I could just side chain the Dimension D, real estate in my DAW is precious.
The UAD Dimension D is a prime example of why I think UAD is all too often tone deaf to what their customers want and need. It's a plug-in. They can copy the Dimension D exactly how they did, and being digital, they could add features like a Mix function and some parameter controls to fine tune the sounds.
Why stand on ceremony and create a copy of specific retro gear when they could easily add very useful features. They could still keep it simple, yet make it more flexible and useful without altering the original features at all.

Ha! I know, I know.
I have some kind of subliminal negativity for side chains. Makes no sense, ugh.. I'd just rather have the adjustment in the plug-in. It would be no skin off UAD's back to put that on more of their plug-ins. They could keep it as is, and add that one feature and it would be helpful. If I have say.. 3 or 4 plug-ins that need a side chain, it gets crowded visually.
I think next time around I'll get a Mac Mini and a much bigger monitor.

Do you just mean putting the Dimension D on an aux, so it’s parallel? I don’t think there’s any “sidechaining” involved here. There’s no detector.

Yes, I mean that sometimes. I thought creating a side chain was copying the track to a new track, adding the distortion/color you want and then blending that in with the original track. Am I wrong?

Thats parallel processing. Side chaining is when you take a source and feed it to another sources input for something like compression. For example, having a compressor on the bass that is being fed by the kick, so that every time the kick hits the bass is ducked.

That’s just parallel processing (the same thing as a mix knob, like you were saying). Sidechaining is where you have the detector of one processor keying off of some other audio source. Like maybe you have the kick drum side chained to the compression on the bass guitar, so that when the kick drum hits, it ducks the bass guitar a little. Lots of uses for it but it always involves the detector of one processor being triggered by some other audio source.

Word to wise modulation freaks:
Plugin Boutique is giving away Native Instruments "Freak" modulation plugin with any purchase. I got some samples for 5 bucks.
This one is capable of extreme effects or more subtle boring things. You can destroy your music with it or make it sound good. I like things like this.

I guess you could sidechain and eq. Like have a bass duck 80hz every time a kick hits or something.

That plugin answers the question "Is Michael Carnes smarter than me," positively. I don't fully know how to drive it but it's fascinating, and always seems to sound cool.
