Used apple loops cut from real performances to fake a pedal steel guitar today. With a lot of clip gain, cutting - fade in and out, I was surprised - it sounds like a real player.
Used soft LA3A and tons of reverb as well as some Dimension-D.
I know we have people here doing this every day. What's your "standard" FXs on pedal steel guitar?

I like plate or chamber IRs. Valhalla Vintage Verb can be excellent too.

Interesting checked the session, I used PSP Spring reverb and the free Version of the Dimension D. Any technical or traditional reasons for your choices, or do you go by pure taste.
EDIT: Thanks for the delay advise, JK.
Did try BT Tempo Delay by nomad factory, which sounds old and thick - now it makes the feeling the PSG is painted on the back wall of the speakers.

In my experience steel players want to hear some reverb on their track but will usually agree to track dry. The options I laid out are the ones that get the nod from the players. Have definitely used delay as well, but not all the time. Most of the steel players I’ve tracked are into classic country, and plates and chambers are what was available back in the day. That said, I love non-traditional use of steel ala Daniel Lanois. It all just depends on the goal.

Cool, THX.
I have some sounds in my mind and one is on Mercury Falling by Sting. JK was spot on, they use tons of delay for that sound, I just checked before I left the workspace.
Pedal Steel never was a sound for me, with age taste changes...
Have good one... A.

Just (real) plate for fx, unless it’s gotta be extra spacey. Then it’s fulltone tte.
Love la3a for processing / tone stuff.

I'm lucky enough to know and work with a really wonderful Steel player. He uses an AxFX rack unit, and usually has a good sound with delay and reverb, and he's happy to make adjustments if I ask him to. Often all I have to do to his parts is adjust the fader...

plate or a tube driven real spring reverb. And some comp, and possible some 1/4 note delay with the output going into the reverb.

My go-to is real spring verb ala Fender Vibrosonic Reverb Amp and some delay.. but been adding distortion about 1/3rd of the time these days.
