and then turn it off. It's so ass-backwards. There was just too much going on behind the scenes so I turned it off and ALL of my presets in the documents folder were wiped off my local hard drive and put into icloud. Now I'm downloading them all back. Problem is, sometimes they're not going back to the original path like is set up in PT. Nightmare.

I remember when I first demo'd Apple Music...and they force you to turn on iCloud Library--which infects your local iTunes library...and then the time period was up, I canceled, and my local library was f'd. This time, I signed up for Apple Music to hear what they have in HD, I created a NEW empty library to enable it. It IS weird that they literally don't ALLOW you to have a local library in iTunes anywhere and use their streaming service.
I feel for you. That's the thing about automagical stuff. It's SO slick...while it works...but, when something starts to go awry...you just feel helpless.

Think everything is kosher now. I think. But what an ass backwards way of doing things. You put - say your documents folder in iCloud - it doesn’t remove your local documents folder, just copies it to the cloud. But then you want to stop the constant uploading and downloading that goes on with it (why isn’t there a once a day option?) and you decide to disconnect. It removes it from your local drive. No option. Just gone locally. It makes no sense.

I use iCloud Drive quite a bit, but I don't have Documents & Desktop turned on. That's the option that works for me.
On my wife's machines, I have Documents & Desktop turned ON, because I need to back all her stuff up in the background and have it be totally seamless and behind the scenes. If it involves doing ANY backup manually, I just can't count on her doing it.
It's got to be hard being an OS developer these days. So many different kinds of people with so many different approaches to technology.
