Hi folks, I've enjoyed some recordings posted by blackdawg, which come along with great technical discussion. So I thought I'd let you know about a 5-part writeup I'm doing about a very different sort of piano music. This is quite modern stuff that requires (at least to me) a somewhat different approach to recording. First segment of the writeup is here. You can skip ahead to the first of two videos here. Most of you are likely to find the music quite different from your daily fare, although it really is worth the effort. There's no doubt you'll be impressed by the virtuosity of the performances. Links here appear to go through a service called vigilink, which may not work for everyone. In that case: www.michaelcarnes.net/news/recording-classical-music-for-piano-part-1

Cool piece! What a monster to play.
Thanks for sharing. I will read through all that stuff later when I have a minute.
Recording is nice too. Focused and close sounding but still a nice image around it. What ribbon is that on the M/S pair? Samar?

They play very nicely together. There are actually 8 mics on the recording, but the M/S pair are all you can see.
