Well, the issue seems to be Logic needed to rescan the new plug, but it wasn't doing so. There is a technique to make that happen, but it took some time and frustration before I found it. Once I did, the R2 was there with my other Exponential Reverbs. It would be a good thing if Izotope included these instructions instead of letting new users suffer and then have to shuttle back and forth between internet searches, Logic forums and the hard to find customer service. Haven't tried R2 yet. For plate reverbs I use Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven first, Sound Toys Little Plate is my second choice, UAD's EMT-140 is my third choice. I wonder if I will find any use for the R2 plates? Maybe not the issue you hit, but there's the infamous issue with Audio Units not getting scanned, where the solution is to log out and back in. I hit it so rarely that I invariably forget and bang my head on why a plugin isn't being recognized, till i remember...got hit with it a week ago when looking at old projects and had one with a free synth (Crystal), the installer failed and I just grabbed the plugin from my old computer and it wouldn't scan. Because it was old, I sort of gave up right away thinking it didn't work, then remembered to log out...I don't have problems with iZotope plugins (I have most or all), and bought the R2/Phoenix deal and it installed fine (Catalina). I didn't need another reverb, but found that R2 presets seem to drop in pretty well on vocals (and probably lots of things), without the usual tweaking. I've had Lexicon Native for years, but it's rarely my first choice these days because the algorithms are separate plugins—awkward to deal with when you aren't certain in advance whether to go with a plate or room, for instance. I also like the easy access to stereo width. Sometimes you want a vocal reverb right behind the vocal to sound like part of it, sometimes you want the vocal in a wide reverb space—not all reverbs account for that (ValhallaRoom, IIRC). My most recent reverb before that was Neoverb, which also incorporates Exponential algorithms. Seem pretty useful, but haven't done a lot with it, just used for unobtrusive vocal space so far.

Welcome to RealGear earlevel !
When you mention log out and log In, I don't quite understand. Let's say I'm in Logic and want to rescan, what do I "log out" of ?

Yes, log out and back in—it's considerably faster than restarting your Mac, though (at least my 2019 Mac Pro). Apple menu, Log out <your name>, the last menu item.

Welcome to RealGear earlevel ! When you mention log out and log In, I don't quite understand. Let's say I'm in Logic and want to rescan, what do I "log out" of ? Simply hit the plug-in manager open, press rescan wait until the audio engine is ready again, check if the plug-in is validated now. The plug in manager shows the validation in the last row. Some plugs don’t validate after the first startup, for no special reason. It has been this way since I know logic V.5….

mrholmes, it just wasn't rescanning. It's a bug and I haven't updated Logic for a while. There was a way to make it rescan the one plug-in and now it's working. Still, it was very frustrating having to spend so much time just to install a plug-in.

So, basically, within the the last 2 years, Izotope has done this with all 4 Exponential reverbs! I've ended up buying, at these ridiculously low prices, all of them, including Excalibur. Is there a point in keeping R2 when I have R4 & keeping Phoenix when I've Nimbus?

Thundering voice---WHY DO YOU WAKE ME FROM MY SLUMBER--back to normal voice.
If you've got sessions with the older 'verbs then you'll probably want to hang onto them. While NIMBUS/R4 are able to translate user presets from Phoenix/R2, they won't be automatically loaded in a session in place of the older verbs. So it comes down to a judgement call for you. If you're doing stuff for hire--in the door and out the door--and you really don't ever plan to revisit those older sessions, then you could get rid of the older verbs. But if you're doing your own stuff, there's a good chance you'll want to clean up old mixes someday. Even though you might want to replace the verbs at that time, you'll need to be able to load the session in the first place.
I think this rule of thumb really applies to all plugins.
Hope that's helpful.
