Hey guys, found a dolby A-type really cheap but it didn't have a power cord. Been searching around but can't find anything. Anyone know where I might be able to find one of these power cables to test it? much thanks!

Yeah ! Quite perplexing lol ... I have a binson and it has the same layout of a plug but it's just a little too big for it and it came from italy. So I wonder if its a euro style plug? I'll keep digging but maybe on of the brilliant realgearonline minds can show me a shortcut

View AttachmentSimple cheap quick solution, by a power cord with pig tails or chop the end off of something, remove power inlet connector attach pig tails. Or you can scavenge the local electronics recycler.

EmRR may know a source. He deals with stuff from that era. Ericn is right; you can rig a workaround, but I hope you find a suitable connector to preserve the piece as is. Also, noting the voltage selection switch and knowing Dolby sold in Europe, I’d guess it is a euro plug. Check eBay or a European electronic supply house. Worst comes to worst, the screws on either side of the receptacle mean it’s removable. Your tech can put a nice little plate in there with an eyelet and run a power cable direct per Ericn’s suggestion.

That Belden auction link is a good bet, check the measurements. This is the territory of pointless part #s, you have to scavenge. Some of that stuff is so common, but so difficult to find in a pinch. Measure and see if a modern IEC retrofits, many times they do.

You could probably remove the center ground leg and many 2 prong cables would work or drill a hole into a 2 prong connector to allow place for the ground leg.

Wow, thanks for all the helpful replies! much appreciated. Going to measure Belden, looks like it might fit. I'll ask tech to DIY it. Cheers!

Great info Dave. If your like me and like to size your cords to keep the rack neat, you replace the connector and no need to worry about that one specific cable getting lost (everybody has a box or 2 of IEC power cables right) other wise buy the cable.

Well I think 35 dollars plus PayPal's fee and shipping is a ridiculous amount for a cable instead of finding a work around, especially if the reason you got this unit in the first place was because it was cheap. well its a good thing it wasn't your money than! lol

You said it's ridiculous to pay $35+ for a cable and I said it's a good thing you didn't! Just a joke, ps. I have a couple of your capsules in my stam mic's, sound amazing!
