Seen a statement from Kit plugins stating they are aware of the problems and looking at a fix . Although pretty sure the problems should have been addressed before release ! Also the YouTube video took a little credit from guys I liked . On the other hand give me a Blackbird recording and sang by Martina, I’m pretty sure even I couldn’t f’ that up

Just a word of warning if you update to the new version 1.1: The new version acts like a whole new plugin and not an update. A session with the plugin in use won't find the new one and you have to instantiate a new instance over the old. This blows away your old settings. I let them know and hopefully they fix it.

I’m demoing this while it’s on sale. It’s good. I never tried the original, which seems to have had some issues. V2 seems well-behaved. I’ll need to compare to my go to general purpose DSP inductor EQ, Brainworx console_N, but this thing has a lot of life to it. The saturation is really nice. I dig it.

If judging from the purple place it seems I'm one of the few that was a big fan of V1, even more so with V2 which is bit more hifi. Nice that they exist as separate plugs. My buddy has a Series 75 console and he was flipping out when comparing. Anybody know more about this new style of dynamic convolution mixed with algo? Seems like we're starting to get the benefits of Acustica quality with less CPU hit.

I really like the edge it gives.

I've heard speculation that the saturation is the dynamic convolution part (a la Acustica) and the EQ is algo. But as far as I remember, I haven't heard any confirmation of this from KIT themselves, so who knows for sure.

The best saturation plugin I've heard. I loved it from day 1. I use it mostly for saturation / drive. Now in version 2 it is auto-gain matching when cranking pre input. I do not know how they have managed to get saturation so good when cranking pre input. But obviously they have some good Coca-Cola recipes that I have not heard from any other plugin so far.

There are some wonderful colors available in their catalog. It’s all the other stuff with Acustica that’s annoying. If KIT manages to capture that quality but actually make their plugins easy to use, they’ll go far.

Everything is about taste and for some it may not be a plugin. I also use UAD Neve 1084 when cranking pre input for saturation. It sounds fantastic 2. Happy mixing Mark and more saturation for the people

Maybe an odd question, I tend to strive for cleaness, so you add saturation for more girth?

Been thinking about getting this but then I wonder, "do I really need another channel strip plugin? Will my mixes improve?" The jury and my credit card are still out on this one. I had just picked up the Fuse channel strip a couple weeks ago. I already have everything from PA and most of Waves channel strips as well. I'm probably just making excuses for not getting the latest mix projects done.... If I only had "X" I could get more done. Plugins are a blackhole where all my money seems to go.

Even more if it's a soft song, you get more character with a little dirty sound subtly. On JK song that I played drums on I distorted the sub kick with "Tube screamer" in this mix Gets beautiful when you use it sparingly

Maybe an odd question, I tend to strive for cleaness, so you add saturation for more girth? Saturation, for me, makes almost anything sound better. Some instruments that particularly love LOTS of saturation, for me, are Drums (number one.) And in denser, louder mixes, Bass guitar. For drums, it fattens them up big time for the sound I'm after. Listen to Motown, old jazz records, classic rock. Those are some dirty mofin' drums!!! Possibly 5%-10% THD in some examples. A compressor like Molot or Aurosor will give you a THD% readout if you want to see what I'm talking about. These are two great compressors for drums, by the way. Dirty drums, with good ambience, are some of my favorite sounding things in the world. For bass, it will help the instrument to speak out in the high end, make it more audible, due to overtones and harmonics being pushed forward. Many other sources just get a light treatment of tape saturation (Softube Tape, UAD Studer 800) just to make them blend well. If an electric guitar is too pokey, sometimes you can make it sit down and blend better with some tape saturation. On mix bus, some clipping is generally added after limiting for a decibel or so of "free" loudness, carefully tuned by ear. I use Newfangled Elevate for this. The clipper is sold separately as "Saturate." You could also use any number of things like Sonnox Inflator, Softube Harmonics, and etc to get some tone happening. I would use these pre-limiter. This might be more common in mastering but all my rough mixes are "mastered" like this before I print them. It's the poor boy's LTL Silver Bullet...sort of. It's in that field of sounds. Some of my other most used saturation is Neve style. I use UAD 1073, PA Lindell 80, Arturia 73, and Black Rooster VP73HE most often. The Fuse VPRE plugs are also really good for this. I find "preamp" saturation to sound better than more generic clipping plugins. It's more complex and pleasing.

If you track with a preamp that has a Neve, API or Redd 47 sound, you get saturation from those. Personally, I don't like a lot of saturation. I use UAD's Ampex TR-102 on the 2 bus on every thing I do, and occasionally the Black Box for a little tube sound and almost never anything on the track itself. I never found putting a tape sim on every track got me anything but more mud.
Where I think many home made recordings fall down is in the room and the mic used. A truly great vocal mic goes a very long way to getting you a pro sound, but the room is what it is.

No Troubles registering an account for me Indie.
After 2 days of demoing this, I bought it. I have PI/ Brainworks N which isn't bad but I like this quite a bit better,....Besides liking the things mentioned above, I thought it was very dimensional where many plugs seem flat to me. Sale ends at midnight FYI

Hey alright. It held up in a (quick) blind test so I bought it.
I thought I was hearing sonics with more life to them, better imaging across the instruments and a better, less-flat presentation of transients. Just ‘better’ all around. Put it on acoustic guitars, bass, and drums of a track and made all the same cuts and boosts with bx console_N (my go to Neve), bounced, RMS matched the bounces and then compared blind. I heard all the same stuff blind.
I'll be glad to have this arrow in the quiver.

looking for a neve eq. anyone compared this to the noiseash need 84/81 plugins? what i find attractive on the KIT plugin is its slim appearance. i imagine putting 4-6 side by side open on the screen and mixing away drum tracks like on a console. could be a good workflow.

Good point. Other plugs take up a lot of real estate. If your DAW has presets for window'd modes it might work out famously.

Kind of apples/oranges different. The BB N105 plugin is modeled after the Neve 8078 console in Studio A at Blackbird. So as expected it is a different sonic flavor than the Noiseash plugs modeled after different Neve consoles that used 73/81/84 and 31102 pre/eq's. The Need series also has the option to just buy the plugin version of the pre's only without eq at a low price you can add on your channels to change flavors if you like. I like both and Demos are available for both to see what works for you.
