I thought it was funny when she cut that years ago...I was gonna give you shit about always using a Martina McBride song as a demo. ...I sort of wonder how many people think that IS a Simply Red tune? #geritolShot I didn't listen to the plug in. Will at some point probably. First was the best David Brent’s version is up there, though…

This could be a really great plugin, but am I the only one that feels like Blackbird is always a little too cool for school? Not only do they have a Neve they have the best Neve. And the best 257 etc. I get it, it's a great studio. But I always have the sense that I'm being pitched "exclusivity" first and gear second.

Is this ironic?
Waves always the best CLA bla bla bla UAD world-class number one modelling bla bla bla Slate with his over the top YouTube videos.....
This is why I like fuse-labs-audio or balck-rooster audio. They should up and watch the most often positive response without overdoing marketing.
In one point I agree with you, when companies yell too loud I get doubts ...
BTW. WHY another Neve strip, we have very good ones already.

The Neve strip to beat in my view is the bx_console N. I use it all the time. This blackbird thing doesn’t have the dynamics obviously but I’ll be interested to compare the EQs. You prefer this over Lindell 80? Curious why. I’ve not spent much time on console N.

But they literally have a school. 🤣 And yes, marketing is annoying, most of the time. Especially plug-in hype.

No. I don't really want to buy Blackbird Studio (or Abby Road or Sunset Sound) via an algorithm. Marketing-wise it implies that I need to attach myself to some historical studio in order to make great music--and that type of mindset actually interferes with me making good music. Don't get me wrong. I love tried and true tools that help me, as in the AudioScape Opto Comp. And the Fuse VCL-373 is getting used a lot here. And yeah this is America, so marketing sadly infiltrates everything. But when Blackbird implies that only they have the best Neve my eyes begin to roll.

ya, I don’t really get the try to sound like somewhere else thing.
Maybe naive, but I like to think that those great songs we all love happened cus people strived to serve the song and the moment: the gear was part of that, but sort of along for the ride?
Now, I try to just write genuinely creative things that seem musical to me and hope that people dig it, but I am definitely not trying to sound like someone else, somewhere else or something else: it’s just me and my track. I hope it works and people dig it, but I am really just doing what feels musically right to me and I own that.

I am pretty much gear saturated and I concentrate on arranging / performance and rehearsals ….
That’s why I bought the Raven it makes a lot of things easier.

I don’t condone the “try to get John Mayer’s tone” thing either, but I get that it’s pervasive. Are those modules in their 8078 Class AB? It would actually be really cool to have more focus on that particular flavor of Neve, because they’re great. Not that I want more plugins, I find that less is more there. On the other hand, Blackbird IRs might be really cool.

Any reason to believe the saturation/mojo properties on this plug in would be higher quality than UA’s Neve offerings? Or just different?

Any reason to believe the saturation/mojo properties on this plug in would be higher quality than UA’s Neve offerings? Or just different? There are plenty of Neve style saturation tools. Take the one by Kush for example very close to what I know. I now can buy Neve plug-in 12 or I just decide to make music with 11 Neve style plug ins.

Because I had to laugh out loud.., If it’s not ironic than sorry no I stoped making equipment excuses for why I can’t start producing my music. This thing wouldn’t save anything…. We clearly have too many choices our brains are not made for this….

Buried somewhere in my army of plug-ins I have Neve console IR's, and I think API. They all just add distortion, and I never use them.
So far, the best distortion plug-in I've used is the Analog Design HG-2. I'd say it gives me 20%-30% of what a console does, but it does that perfectly.
It can't be long before UAD does what they did with the API with Neve for Luna.
So far, I haven't tried Luna. It's confusing enough just using Logic, especially after automation to then use another DAW.

It's out so I snagged the demo. Quick mix/play on a test song is really fun and impressive. I'll have to give it a more thorough run through vs the UAD 1081 I use all over the place to make sure I'm not just shiny new plugin syndrome.

Trying it. Doesn't sound bad. And I haven't even tried the eq yet.
The GUI is ugly, tho. And the CPU hit is fine.
