I have one coming at me in the mail as I type....and I'm impatiently pacing back and forth waiting for it (and a colour saturator from diy recording equipment).
Probably like you I scoured the web looking for reviews and impressions but came up pretty empty handed and purchased based on people's praise of all other SS products and Jean-Pierre's reputation...
If you'd like, once built I could run some files thru it for you....
I was planning on doing that anyway so that for people like you and I there'll be some samples to listen to.....(not sure why more companies don't do a lot more of this.....disparity of musical styles/aesthetics/environments notwithstanding).

Btw....if not this I was going to get a WA76. I love the 500 series format so much however that if these sound like I'm hoping they will, they'll fill up some more empty slots in the rack as the price is right relative to other fet comps....

I have four. Part of a side-car I am putting together. Jean-Pierre let me have the red knobs so they would match the Pres and EQs.

Fivefish x-12s on the right. I'm quite the Sound Skulptor fanboy. You won't be disappointed. This side car is my take on a hybrid 500series console bucket. It's currently a work in progress. So I have a 16x2 line mixer from API using 8200 & 8200A. I built the 51X racks and power supplies that I got from Jeff at ClassicAPI. I also built the meter bridge. Ideally, I will have eleven channel strips with five line returns for effects, etc. I would love to make one stuffed completely with the Sound Skulptor modules for the neveish, and a second one stuffed with api-ish. This is one of the reasons I asked a question regarding 500series channel strips elsewhere in this forum. I designed and built the cabinetry also.Attachment Deleted

Thanks! I could post more photos, but don't want to disrupt the thread. Unless folks want to see....?

I hope the op is in complete agreement that in this case you should disrupt to your heart's content.....
But I'm praying that you'll add more impressions about using the cp5176 too!
I'm a Jeff Steiger/CAPI fan boy.....and can't wait to air the 5176 with a vp28....I have a sneaking suspicion you're all over that combo and I'm hoping you'll tell us about it....

Thanks Patrick. I have no experience with a real 1176, any revision, so I cannot compare. And, as I'm still putting together the side car, I haven't used any of the modules in any sort of real-world situation, only testing signal flow/etc. I can say that, based on my experience with the other Sound Skulptor pieces I've built, these modules will work and sound great, regardless of whether or not they sound like the "originals".

That's like saying a have a ferrari but haven't taken it out of the driveway yet! Four of them? Damn. I'm chomping at the bit to get my grubby little hands on one of them

Think of it as a classic Ferrari that's being restored - the wait will be worth it
