You could pick up the new Arturia FX 2 collection. FX are always fun and creative. Or the Cherry Audio synths, they have a big sale, you could dive into the Modular. That's been creative for me.
And if you want to go neck deep in it, check out the Native Instruments Komplete 13 Ultimate bundle sale right now. So much in there.
Sorry, can't advise about hardware gear and sales, not sure what's going right now.

That's some Inside Baseball right there! You can also find out how smart your gearpimp is, some dealers don’t let the guys discount on anything because they know their guys will mess up and violate a MAP and they don’t want to lose a line. Others will let them give the house away on most lines but lock them on tough / Complicated MAP’s. Others will pretty much trust there guys. Very, very few will sit down with the corporate consol and comptroller and figure out ways around MAP. Now who do we know that is that 😜? Also always good to try to close a deal at the end of the month, your sales guy might be short of making his nut and take what easy profit he can get, or he made his nut so he’s happy and willing to share the joy. Another trick is to keep an eye on discounted B-stock, discontinued lists. Everybody has a quota of how much they need to move. Management always wants it gone, if they have already paid for it, it’s taking up space and the money they have into it isn’t working. I have a very very special place in my heart for the guys who bought lots of b-stock.

We’ve got some mic pres left over and some stuff in queue. 😘 The qp5 gives me wood. I may need to change around some purchases so i can get one. Ive got a need for a high gain pre because i record amateurs and they arent confident and sing quietly or play quietly. I have had some issues in the past with noise floor as i push gear to its limits. How wpuld you describe the qp5 tone and functions. Also like the transformer ratio switch idea.

As im not a pro i dont buy enough to develop great connections and in some cases great gear is cheaper to buy from the states even after paying import and duties.

How wpuld you describe the qp5 tone and functions. Also like the transformer ratio switch idea. It's a classic op-amp based mic pre. Our standard M2 op amp is designed with very high open loop gain to give low distortion, and an even-ordered distortion profile. The output transformer we used is wound for us by Cinemag and was picked to sonically split the difference between older Quad Eight designs and API designs - not as luscious or gooey as QE, and not as aggressive as API respectively.* The output transformer gives some low-end harmonic distortion or warmth, but not so high into the mids as an API style. The input transformer is a Jensen which is flawless and lets the other components shine through. You can swap the op amps, they're 2520 footprint. People like using our NDOA (which is an OA10 style) and our Flickinger style (original design based on a very early Flickinger mic pre) to tweak. Functionally is pretty straightforward - gain for the input op amp, output fader (-inf to unity) controlling the level into the output stage. The hi/lo switch changes the gain on the output stage for additional +12 dB. The Ratio button changes the output transformer from 1:2 to 1:3. This makes the output op amp work harder, adds a bit more gain, and changes the transformer tone (more aggressive). Not all op amps love 1:3 -- sometimes this can sound cool. The filter button engages a 50 hz passive high pass filter. *Actually years after we settled on the design we were given some vintage JT-123 transformers made for Deane Jensen for Wally Heider for Sunset from a friend. These were made by Reichenbach Engineering which became Cinemag, who was able to look up the original specs for us. Our output transformer is nearly spec identical to these Heiders, differing only by 3 turns. When we checked ours versus the vintage ones out of curiosity the only real difference we found was ours had a bit more low-end extension - presumably from the additional turns. We use this output transformer in all of our designs.

The only one I officially endorse is here is our own JK, it just wouldn’t look good to endorse somebody else here and I really don’t buy much new. When I do buy new I tend to either know somebody or I’ll call somebody at a dealership who’s job isn’t pushing gear.

I like buying from rental shops in town which we have a few of where I live. But I am a big B-stock guy just in general in life. You got a beautiful compressor with a bent knob? I'll buy it!!

Yup. i think we are all struggling with the cost of some gear. But shout out to the likes of iaa, capi, hairball, aml, diy rec, samar, serrano and others who all make world class gear at affordable prices.

And just like that its done... a story with a happy ending. Thx.... That is the thing with small builders and why I agreed that Matt should sell direct. For a Small manufacturer starting out the extra margin a dealer needs to add is just going to be to much. We are lucky to have IAA CAPI Audioscape and others who can deliver the goods and do it at a reasonable price!
