Oh hell yeah. I was in the market for a pair of M160s one of these days, but this just might replace that if the price is right and it sounds as good as I suspect it will.

Looks like the price is the same. So they’re going right after the m160. Gotta say, I love the m160 but it’s basically welded to my drum overhead so I don’t use it for as many things as I might like to. This looks very interesting. I’m a sucker for a yoke mount too.

M160 is a piston ribbon and this is a standard corrugated ribbon so I think it's more like a passive competitor to the active AEA KU5A. I like that since I really never like the sound of "active" microphones or "boosters" in front of my nice tube preamps. I do wonder how it sounds compared to the M160 though.

I have one, one of the very first made, I bought it specifically for live cajon, only used it once but loved it. It is a keeper. I also enjoyed a pair of 160s, sold them as I just wasn’t using them since I have other great mics. The SR-5 is the only ribbon, keeper for me so far. In addition to the 160s, I have had and sold KU5A, KU4, AEA ACE (special edition A440) and R88. Other than percussion, although I tried, ribbons are obviously not my thing, especially on vocals. Anybody ever get a hold of one of these?

It’s that act of kindness that allows you to acquire the coveted items of others in exchange for currency. I know it is a completely un know concept to you when it comes to mics. 🥸

M160 a little difficult for recording a solo vocalist without some really effective pop filter. Is there something about this Stager ribbon mic that gets around that? Thanks!

Note: It wasn't a Stager this time . . . but that is definitely in my plans. I love ALL my ribbons.

Do we need an intervention? He would just accuse us of trying to steal his mics. He would be right!

Do we need an intervention? Of course we do. We always need to intervene. I'll head over to the Ferengi Acquisitions thread now
