Don't want to wear out my welcome by commenting every post, but I am indeed listening to everything, it's exciting. There's an RGO music festival happening inside my HD650. Really enjoyed Ever Tear A Hit, the shea. Thanks for listening.

Another nice thing about BC, is that during pandemic it has 3-5 times waived its fees so 100% of funds go to artist. They advertise this so you can get the word out! They've done that the first friday of each month since I think April last year. I've been encouraging all of the artists I produce to take advantage and to release first on Bandcamp, before going to the streamers.

Here's mine: cassetteand45.bandcamp.com/releasesOur first (and only) release from 2013. And then...children. Which slowed progress to a crawl. Currently working on finishing a new record.

Bandcamp would be 1000% better if they changed their name to something less...I dunno...'bandcamp' has a real "I'm in a promising local band" energy.
But free, hard to beat that.

Hoping bandcamp (or similar non-profit) takes over and claims the likes of Spotify.

Shadowfields on Bandcamp Been with Bandcamp for a very long time. I'm not sure it does much for us but it is a good way to sell merch without having to setup our own online store.

Hoping bandcamp (or similar non-profit) takes over and claims the likes of Spotify. Not gonna root for Spotify, but I just don’t think many “civilians” use bandcamp beyond like, supporting their cool friend at work’s band. Whereas Spotify is a good music discovery engine, but at the expense of fair compensation to artists. (No small thing).

When I’ve directed people to BandCamp to hear artist’s material I commonly get the response... “Aren’t they on Spotify?” Unfortunately I expect Bandcamp will eventually go the way of MySpace.

The Glue sounds great. My favorite part is the clever, layered arrangements, and the lyrics on tracks 1-3. Has that elusive, well recorded, well mastered sound quality, so the title is appropriate. It's nice to have new music to listen to this morning. Don't mean to bombard the thread, I'm just enjoying these. As long as it sounds more like organic 1971 than pristine 2021! The intention was to mixdown to an Ampex ATR102 1/4” but the ATR needed too much work to get in running in time. Coles 4038 on all Tom’s vocals Neumann U77 on Rosie Luby (BG Vox) Neumann KM84’s on acoustic guitars Original EMT140 plate used for about 90% of the verbs

It was taking me back to some specific Bob Dylan, maybe Neil Young type records I've studied, if I had to name something. Lots of nice midrange character. I hope Bandcamp doesn't go up in a puff of smoke, I hope it continues to grow. But I'm sure if it does, something else will take its place. I know the tech world is shark infested. Bandcamp is a tiny ray of hope for me with online music, I can only wish for their prosperity.

The Dylan/Young thing mixed with a little Randy Newman. ‘Falling Insane’ reminds me somewhat of Newman’s ‘Short People’. I’d like to see a more artist friendly version of Spotify which pays the artist better and maybe can also link to artist’s merch BUT as long as the artist gets the major cut of merch sales. The problem with BandCamp is it’s not really considered the place to get your music from by the masses.

Can the artist payment be downloaded directly to a bank account or do you still have to go through Paypal ?

This is the last album we produced, recorded and mixed for Tom Redwood before the studio closed in 2019 although we seemed to always be stuck in 1972. Tom Redwood - The Glue tomredwood.bandcamp.com/album/the-glueNo sequencers, midi, pristine samples (or any samples) or gridding just organic mostly live takes with few overdubs. Some amp noise and even a Lo-Fi vocal on one track which I hated at the time but have come to actually like. Recorded, overdubbed and mixed over 10 days OTB/Hybrid via a console and outboard hardware. A few warts here and there but they kind of grow on you! cool classy sounds (classy gear has its uses ;-) and interesting songs.

This thread is making me feel like maybe I should look into band camp. you should. its very convenient and simple. Who is doing your artwork? Also, nice vibe on these tunes.

Is there a ‘player’ when you share Bandcamp tracks on social media/forums like there is for Spotify?

Indeed BandCamp is really geared towards bands not so much the ‘consumer’. When I’ve directed people to BandCamp to hear artist’s material I commonly get the response... “Aren’t they on Spotify?” Unfortunately I expect Bandcamp will eventually go the way of MySpace. Bandcamp is growing exponentially. Monthly Bandcamp sales are up 122% year on year... LOTS of career artists are using Bandcamp and making decent money vs Spotify... BC paid out 82 Million to artists in the last 4-5 months.
