I've heard many examples of the 840, and they all sound excellent. The only thing holding me back is the looks of the 840 -- gotta get rid of the "toob-in-the-window". Otherwise, Bob Horn seems to like them...all!: www.echobarstudios.com/studios.htmlNowt wrong with a bit of micro-bling .. EECchh... No.

I'm not bothered either way because it's the sound that matters, although at one point they had a habit of placing super bright LED's right underneath the head basket on some cheap condensers. That I did not appreciate..

Back to Lewitt..
Anyone use their dual element kick mic, the 640REX?
I'm falling out of love with my Audix D6 these days and have liked the clips of the 640 on youtube..

The LED on the REDD is not at all what I would consider "super bright"...and I thought it looked pretty sweet on my Christmas livestream.

They should give you the option of three different brightness levels, and an off setting👍🏻 Because we all know it’s all about the lights!!!😃

Not in my book. I bought a KM184 again because of this brand. But I never tried the LDCs... Appreciate the feedback and that's a shame, after setting up my new studio / sorting out instruments and drum kits I essentially have $1500.00 left and no more. Some decent samples to ease one's mind so I can avoid sale / losses would be nice.. That's the issue, unknown entities are a risk. I know I'm going to sound like a broken record with this over the past 3-4 months, but with that amount of scratch, I'd probably go for 2 Serrano 87s and pocket the remainder.

My singing is gonna need brown What about an internal Melodyne integration that turns the light red if you're flat or sharp, yellow if you're pushing it but ok, green if you're in the middle of the note? I'm joking but that's actually a genius idea for training vocalists. Like a voice tuner built into a mic. Can one of you engineering geniuses please build this?!?!?!

Or simply just replace the singer with... The U87 A.I. singing microphone. Chris P.S. Bi-polar Pattern included!

That said, while it's never the best choice for lead vocal, it's always a good choice. And on BGV's there's really nothing better.

I'm more of a U67 / toob kinda person and I have ample amounts of utility mic's all the way from Neumann to Schoep's. It seems my budget infinitely flexible though, I always start out trying to stick to a budget then throw it to the wind when I like something which is usually expensive .. Ahh well, who needs money?

Gotcha - my mistake. I assumed from your earlier posts that you didn't have any (or many) mics, and were down to $1500 after finishing your room. Hence my recommendation of an affordable utility do-everything mic. If you already have ample amounts of mics (from Neumann to Schoeps), then what are you looking for? Sounds like you're ready to rock, man!

I'm bummed too because I'd like to pick-up another, and am kicking myself for not getting in at the introductory price!

Hence my recommendation of an affordable utility do-everything mic. If you already have ample amounts of mics (from Neumann to Schoeps), then what are you looking for? Sounds like you're ready to rock, man! I'm an odd mixture of rock singer, pop like voice and big lungs. Because of that many mics don't flatter, have the range or become scrambled irrelevant of vocal technique (dynamic mic's seem to suffer the most oddly enough). So I stuck to darker sounding mics like the U47 FET or Mojave FET for a while and it did the job, then I encountered the U67 via a rental for customer projects on several occasions and took a shine to it. Now I only record myself and I've gotten into a situation where I could afford a U67 (at a push) but I remember being a bit 50/50 in some cases and I can't really remember what I sounded like with it, that's a lot of money if you're unsure. Anyway on a whim I purchased an ISK 2B which is far brighter than my previous options (not shrill in the slightest but rather open sounding) and it was a perfect match for my voice. Unfortunately it's broken and I won't be able to purchase a replacement any time soon. The options for a bright(ish) sounding tube mic without a hint of shrillness and decent tube compression when under duress is pretty short. There are essentially three options that I know of. Sontronics Mercury Neumann U67 (Maybe?) Sony C-800 Given the option I'd buy the Stam Version of the C-800 but the planet will have drifted out of alignment before I received it. So... I did have a deep look into the Lewitt LCT840 as another potential option then flittered and decided to give the Mercury a try. If the Mercury checks out then cool, I will at some point pick up an RMS269 when the import / tax etc. dust has settled.

A buddy just bought a pair of the Lewitt small condensers and a pair of the 440 Pure's, not sure what model of the small lipstick condensers. He's going to let me demo them against my arsenal! Can't wait!!!
