It's so cool to be able to finally fill some spaces! It will definitely get your GAS going! The amazing feeling of completion once you fill that 500 rack! Accomplishment!!!! Another 500 rack on the way you say? Say what? Lol

I know some folks who can help you with that. We had a customer place an order for 20 (!) 622s.

I want to fill an 8 slotter with LTL Mister Focus Stage IIs with the MassDrvr color modules. The Colour modules are seriously addicting. I have 4 Mr. Focus' and am always having to rotate what's installed.

500 series is great format for many things, much better deal than the rack mounted version of things in many cases but for some EQ’s it gets really crowded. Also some designs just need current and more than +-15v (tubes).

500 series is fun, like collecting baseball cards.
..that cost $1000 each.

It’s awesome for portable recording rigs. Way easier to carry around.

Vertical controls, baby. Just love the form factor. And the wealth of affordable, high quality DIY kits.

It's a good, solid format. Great way to get a lot on bang into a small space. Really, IMO, heat is the only potential issue. Some get pretty hot!!! I'm at 63 and counting. 8 racks / lunchboxes.

Guess I'll be the lone dissenter... I have an empty BAE chassis about 3 feet from me right now and constantly wonder if I shouldn't just sell the damn thing.
Yeah there's a lot of options for gear. Some of them really great! But I just never seem to find much of it all that engaging & keep finding other ways to spend my money.
For one thing the form factor can be kludgy and I've used plenty of racks that have zero ergonomics. When there's pairs of these and pairs of those its too easy for me to bump knobs w/o realizing it.
For another frankly, my brain has a hard time comprehending dozens of different looking modules in a small space. The times I've been in a room with 2-3 racks that are filled with all sorts of stuff its a total mind fuck. There's no room to label anything and I can never remember what's patched onto what sources.
If I were to get back into it I'd probably set up a rack like a true mini console. Fill it with 8 or 10 of the same EQ or whatever.
Plus as a whole I'm past the "Noah's Ark" preamp trip of having a zillion options. Long term I'd love to get back to the point where I have 16+ identical channels. Sure I'd like some variety for different tasks & colors, but would rather have a "core set" of equipment. And I feel like there are easier, less expensive and more compact ways of getting that done.
