IMHO the M149 is one of "the matches", for your voice. Add don't sell... Chris 110% THIS ^^^^ And if you can't swing it, KEEP the M149 and add a compressor. I saw you mention that it makes your voice sound TOO BIG sometimes and I totally get that. THIS, IMO, is where a GREAT, much more colored analog compressor would come in handy. You can use a HPF all day long ITB and carve your vocals out very easily, but what's NOT so easy is capturing THAT sound on the way in. If you're wanting that MODERN thing - I'd have my eyes on the V, OPTO or our newly released 76D - I've been ADORING this thing for MODERN sounding vocals - top-20 pop, rap, etc etc... PM that raw file as well, if you'd like man! I'll run it through all of the gear we make and find, based on what you've told us and what my ear thinks you prefer, a GREAT sonic MATCH for your voice ;-)

Don’t forget, you’re going through a rather special pre there, makes everything large and revealed. That’s the only thing I felt the 1073 ever had on the Wunder, that little midrange accentuation that made a vocal sit just right.
Great singing and sound!

Thanks for listening! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I totally agree about the Wunder, and I’ve actually had the same thoughts for a few years now. I had a Vintech X73 on loan a while back, and the one thing that kept jumping out at me was just how freaking huge the Wunder sounded in comparison. The low end is thick as all get out. Anyway, I just pulled the trigger on a 1073 SPX. We’ll see if that gets me closer...

I’m definitely starting to feel like a different compressor is in my future (to be fair, the Grace was never an endgame piece LOL). I’m taking forever, but at some point I’m going record some uncompressed vocals and send them your way.
