I've had a really good time mixing a record with my Console 1 and the Softube API emulation ("American Class A"). I love the fixed frequencies of the eq, the fixed steps, how a 2dB boost REALLY boosts things, etc.
That got me thinking... how AWESOME would it be to fill an API lunchbox with 8 560A modules? It's still eye wateringly expensive, but unlike The Box, I could actually fit the damn thing in my studio!
So, if any of you has an API desk or is running 8 or more channels of API EQ, I want to hear from you...
Edit: I was really thinking of the 550A, not the 560!

I don't..
But a more useable and also cheaper option would be a full rack of CAPI LC25/40 eqs which I think are way way better then the 560 personally. They sound awesome and are stepped. But man it would be pretty sick! I'd take a rack of those and a rack of LH95s. Think I'd be pretty good mix eq wise with that haha
just a thought!
Biggest problem right now is getting your hands on some..

I've got 4 CAPI BT50s, 2 Garash G10s, and 2 API 550Bs. Love them all.

If you like it that means theres an outstanding chance I will too

Here so far it's just pairs of TB550A's and LC53A's. Same/not, similar, both useful. Wouldn't mind more of both. I have a console I may someday get around to finishing with 8 channels of Altec 9061A, which are another 2dB/step vintage type that's more Pultec-like broad strokes. I have a couple more loose channels I use all the time....and a pair of Analog Allstars Pultecs.
Add my RCA/API preamps, it's possible to do 4 channels of API pre/EQ.

I wish. The best sounding, most "right" 500 EQ out there IMO.

I'm rocking the UAD API EQ!!! And the Plugin Alliance Lindell API channel!!!
sorry, it's sort of in jest, but I love them just as much as people love their hardwares.
all the API hardware I've owned has been great, I will say that on the topic. probably near the top for me for audio brands.

For just one rack space more you could get four V2s...

API EQs (and preamps) on electric guitar doesn’t getting any better for me when it comes to rock. Their EQs are no slouch on kick and vocals either.
We have (4) The Channel Strip at the studio and I’m happy with that!

I'm working on vp28s/fc526/bt50s to have at least 8 strips to record and mix with. Damn that would be fine.

API 5500 and 2500, CAPI VC528 ML2 (2), Purple TAV (2), are getting me in that sonic ballpark. Used the Waves API a bit over the years to good effect.

I thought that was funny, too, because the 560A is a cheap compressor and I've owned almost 8 of them. Sold every single one of them though. Not bad at all. DBX brand. I believe Dr. Bill likes them.

I got a pair of those! Still on the fence, haven't really had time to test them. And the 560 (not 560a) is API's graphic EQ.

DBX brand. I believe Dr. Bill likes them. to Clarify - drBill doesn't really "like" them. I'll occasionally use them. They are in the rack filling space until the $$ for something I really want comes along..... I would have replaced them quickly with the D3a's from AS, but I already have 4 3a's. Kinda covered there. They are my least used compressors. Nice lights though.....

My Capi FC526 is superior for tracking and versatility. I need more of those...

I wish I had a good reason to have 8 550a's. Only two here. I have a question about the CAPI's... Anyone know if the gains be altered to allow for half dB steps? Because then I might have two more...
