Just checked Sweetwater...They are through the roof! Glad I grabbed mine when I did. Jeez. Wonder what caused the jump?

They were a spot of bover and out of reach to begin with:) Oh it definitely hurt to buy them at the price I got them for, but I don’t think I would have pulled the trigger at the asking price now!

With Brexit I’m sure they suddenly found out a fair amount of raw materials were no longer covered by trade agreements, remember they unlike most build their own drivers so they are importing complete different stuff compared to other monitor builders. Hell there could be a container full of ATC on that ship grounded in the Canal.

Inflation and to manage demand to not tank new sales when all the people not paying rent have to sell their new monitors for pennies on the dollar to not get evicted or sent to collections. Brexit happened and we in the USA just handed out a shitton of money for nothing.

US distributor must have upped the price on a whim. Dollar to GBP has not gone down anywhere near that much. Drastic price rise. I don't use those monitors.

Out of my price range. Leave that to you professionals You had the scm12’s for a bit didn’t you? They’re out of my price range now. I really pushed it with the previous price!

Out of my price range. Leave that to you professionals Most of the metal and rap pros I know would blow up all the ATCs under the 50ASL anyway without subs. The 25 and 50 are also the ones where classic rock starts to sound better than modern pop. Those little ones, can rob your productions of character by making you fix what doesn’t need to be fixed for stuff that’s going to be played at 95db in cars. Disraeli Gears sounding worse than modern stuff turned me off the ATC 20s and small hifi passives.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re running into COVID-related supply chain issues with some of the parts or materials they use. There’s a ton of companies in a broad range of industries dealing with that right now. Meanwhile, demand is up for seemingly all gear.
If you’re unable to manufacture as much of something as there is demand for it, you raise the price so you can still bring in the same amount of revenue while not selling out of your product. UA is doing the same thing right now. Customers hate it but it makes business sense.

Yeah. The scm 12 were just ok with a sub. Much prefer the One 18s with the same sub.

Really loving mine. I have the scm12. No sub. Powering them with the ATC amp. I find them very natural and easy to listen to. Bass doesn’t knock you out or anything, but it’s really obvious (at least to me) where it’s sitting in the mix. As far as being too analytical or sterile, the only thing I had to adjust to is how low the distortion was. Like, they never sound loud because there is almost no distortion coming from the amp or speaker. I dig them. My work is all coming out great!

Yeah. The scm 12 were just ok with a sub. Much prefer the One 18s with the same sub. The passives are just good. The crossovers aren’t great and there are better speakers. The actives, especially the 50 which can be used up close and cost a car, really start to pull ahead because they use delays to align the phase of the drivers. Awesome, almost point source imaging without the imd from coaxial drivers.

The same thing has happened with guitars and lots of other things. Mexican fenders went for $499 since forever, now they're $799, $849 or higher. It all has something to do with covid, transportation, parts supply shipping, gouging, etc. I don't believe it's inflation at all.
Charmin paper towels I like went from $1 to $2.29, and the big roll from $2 to $4.
It's not just ATC, it's a mess everywhere. I just don't buy unless I have to.

There has been a 3% rise in inflation since 2019.

Fender guitars have risen 35% since then and paper towel prices have doubled. That's since covid. It could be real or just gouging, or a little of both, but it does suck.

You guys ever pay $9 for a dang Doug Fir 8’ 2x4 stud?!
It’s freaking nuts right now. I snuck into the housing market right before the rise in prices but my current renovation is kind of killing me.

I snuck into the housing market right before the rise in prices but my current renovation is kind of killing me. try trying to buy your first home..seems almost impossible now. We just did! And prices and taxes in NJ Aren’t exactly low haha. We got lucky and wound up with a property that nobody seemed to want, low balled an offer and they took it. Lots of work needed but I have a background in framing and carpentry so it’ll be all sweat equity (already is). Most of my friends were buying houses 10 years ago somehow (awful loans), and they used to throw jabs my way about my shitty apartment and being a renter for as long as I was. But... we got what we wanted and will hopefully never have to go through that process again (it’s awful)
