Sonarworks Sound ID ReferenceI use Sonarworks Reference 4. It's made the biggest difference in my mixes. Even more than new monitors. It looks like they have a new version. The quick lookup shows me it is a $89 upgrade. A bit steep considering I don't need any of the new feature, except possibly better drivers (that they claim to have). I know there are purists who don't want an EQ messing with phase, and that's OK. But for me, this software has changed my mixes drastically. Having an 8dB dip or peak due to room modes will prevent you from ever getting a mix you can trust. This software solves it for me. Anyone test it out yet?

No, they already dropped the price, it’s unclear to me, how the new features really improve things? What the point in changing the corrective profile: very illogical.
On the Facebook page, they talked about support not being ongoing, so I asked if they were going to a subscription model, no answer, again seen illogical to me?

Hmmm. That's definitely something to keep an eye on. I don't see a lower price for the update but maybe they will send an email. I hope they don't go to a subscription. OK, Checked again on pricing and $89 is the new pricing. It was $119. Some people are saying they are having some troubles with the new version. I will probably still upgrade; just to support the work they are doing.

Changing the corrective profile has been asked about for a long time. Some people want to correct bass as much as possible up to a certain frequency, but leave the midrange and/or treble alone.

So, what’s the point of taking 40 odd measurements for accuracy ?

The only new features are being able to limit the correction and some new translation templates like NS10s. I downloaded the demo and it’s sonically no different. So support for 4 is going to be halted? If that’s so guess I will eventually have to upgrade.

I ended up buying Sound ID. It seems a bit buggy to me. Systemwide sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I have not been able to figure why it works only some of the time. I opened a support case but they are not very responsive right now. From what I understand, they are flooded with support tickets. Has anyone had good success with Sound ID? I'm on windows with a Lynx Aurora 16. The systemwide appears to use a windows driver instead of an ASIO driver. Not sure what that's about or if I should care. When it works, Sonarworks is super helpful and a gamechanger in my mixes. I just wish it would always work. I have it on a couple systems. For my main studio machine, I stayed with Reference 4. I didn't want to risk the headache.

I did open a support ticket, but my demo time ran out before much came of it. So I've uninstalled it and I'll stick with 4. I noticed no sound differences between Sound ID and 4 fwiw. Hope they improve the software quality over time, but I'll be quite slow to upgrade after this experience (likely only will do so if 4 stops working). 4 has everything I need - and has been very helpful in my room, so I do wish them the best and I hope they are successful in the future.

Could be unfair but I feel like they are just trying to increase revenues, not certain the product is substantially improved .

Seems good most of the time for me too. I do like the cubes emu. Flatter than my actual cubes.
