well, these seem interesting for mobile recordings. m.thomann.de/gb/arturia_audiofuse_studio.htma lot of knobs (i like that), monitor controller included, expandable ... but not much talk about it. anyone have experience with it? i have RME stuff in the studio, how would the arturia‘s audio quality compare? or would you go RME babyface all day long?

MOTU M4 and save money imo.
If you want to drop money, Babyface Pro all day because it works over usb bus power and the drivers are rock solid. Nothing else that’s bus-powered is close to reliable. The DA sound sucks (the treble is totally fucked) though but hey it works!
Now a while ago, you could go Metric Halo and power it over FireWire with great sound but RIP FireWire.

yeah, the arturia ain‘t exactly cheap but i think it offers a lot. and i hate menus and submenus. the arturia seems to have a knob or button for every function. but in the end its all about the sound quality going out. the SOS review is rather positive on that subject. i am spoiled with RME stability and totalmix (yeah, i like it), i wouldn‘t want something of lower quality.

Last year I got two mobile recorders: a Zoom F6 and a Sound Devices MixPre6 II. They're both really good, IMO. Either can be used as an audio interface in addition to standalone, and I'm pretty sure either can be bus-powered if need be.
I have settled with the Sound Devices MixPre6 II, and am planning to sell the F6. The Sound Devices MixPre series is quite impressive. Good sound, good preamps, good variety of powering options. Dials and buttons for all the main features (plus lots of menus to tweak things behind the scenes for particular setups).
They're worth a look.
