Although not that well known outside NE Ohio, Michael was always one of my favorite songwriters and crafted some special songs along the way. I cut my teeth (starting at 13!) playing clubs in the NE circuit (66- 69) and when I returned to music/civilian life after my first USN go around in 76 the Michael Stanley Band set the standard that all the local bands tried to reach. Although they never really made it nationally, they held the attendance record for Blossom Music Center in NE Ohio for many years. Michael continued as a solo artist with multiple album releases over the years - and I always looked forward to each new release. Thanks for music Michael - thanks for all the great music!!

found this article from variety - nice to see Michael get some national appreciation/recognition. It also does a good job describing life as an "almost famous" songwriter. Think quite a few here may be able to relate.
