I certainly wouldn't call it a chamber sound. You can hear the different "steps" in the reverbs from the digital processing. Because really digital reverbs are just delays, you can hear that non linear response. Not a bad thing, its a classic sound. But no chamber.

Granted I’m listening on an iPhone…but that didn’t sound like a 224 or 480 to me. No worries. To each his own.

Did I miss something? I thought it was an analog spring reverb, no? What digital processing is there?

Did I miss something? I thought it was an analog spring reverb, no? What digital processing is there? is it? i thought it was a digital one? Didn't sound like any kind of spring verb I've heard. if its a spring then it sounds great for a spring, although still kind of "steppy" to me. Edit: you are correct it is a spring. Idk why I thought it was a digital unit.. Still sounds very echoy to me. But still good either way. I'd be curious on it depending on the price point. Hardware reverbs are great.

Being able to easily manipulate the verb length at each of those four different frequencies will make this thing really useful.
I'm starting to get really curious on price.

Master room 305 is what’s being modeled by AS. That’s a spring reverb. No “steps”.

Yep. Totally sounds like a spring reverb to me. Kinda like a Benson Tall Bird. It’s a very specific sound. Not sure how utilitarian it would be, but it sure sounds killer and is bad ass. And I want one.

well maybe its the shimmering movement I'm hearing that makes it feel like it has modulation going on. Definitely something going on. Again, its not a bad thing.
Im guessing this thing will be near $2000

Yeah, I almost snagged one a couple times. Then I got a Bricasti. my favorite. Well..other than a real Plate which I hope to have one day. Pro tip for the day: get an Audicon "The Plate". It was made by Gene Lawson. I've got two of them; they're fantastic and you can generally find them for very reasonable prices. The noise floor is WAY lower (like, 20db) than an EMT, with a way more open and extended top, but without sounding metallic. Honestly, I prefer them to the 140s I've used, by kind of a lot. If you wanna inkling into how they sound, you can check out the Transatlantic plugin: their "american" model is an Audicon. And they nailed it so closely that I called the developer before knowing they'd used that model to ask if they'd used that model! Damn thing sounded JUST LIKE my plates. Ha.

I have a bead on a Echo Plate 2, which is made by Jim Cunningham and also has a lower noise floor and is more linear I guess. Hoping to pick it up in the next year or so. But that's cool will def check it out.

well maybe its the shimmering movement I'm hearing that makes it feel like it has modulation going on. Definitely something going on. Again, its not a bad thing. Im guessing this thing will be near $2000 Thank you ALL for the chatter and good vibes! The XL-305R is CERTAINLY causing quite a wave in the analog hardware world - and we couldn't be more proud of it!! Tons of comments, messages, e-mails and generally lots of amazing people that WANT ONE after seeing/hearing Chris' excellent IG vid! To clarify - the XL-305R and it's resulting audio, in & out, remains COMPLETELY in the ANALOG domain - NO DSP.. simply an EXTREMELY clever & intricate array of sleds/springs (which are suspended within the unit itself) - BUT, the magic really comes from the realization of an equal temperament based spring/sled system; which is a complicated way to say the springs/sleds themselves are decaying in a way that is like a grand piano or similar. It's likely this is the movement / modulation you're hearing; and it's REMARKABLE sounding in the room! To those who are familiar with the original Master Room unit - this new version is quitier, richer, bigger and much more reliable, long-term! I can't go into any more detail about the workings, etc of the unit BUT there was a reason to quote this post 😎😉 It certainly has a beautifully haunting, deep vibe to it - but with some slight EQ tweaks, it can also do the "famous" chamber thing extraordinarily well. It's just SO FUN!! We can't WAIT for the official demo video to be released and honestly, get this sweetie out into the hands of all that would like to partake! ;-) Let us also take this moment to mention that there is a TON of labor involved to build a XL-305R; it takes about 7 hours for our experienced crew to build/assemble; This does not include listening tests, calibration, QC, etc which is done by another person or people(s), followed by 2 more steps before being packed & shipped! ....which is what EVERY AS product goes through! 😎❤ We should DO a "How it's Made" video, hire the same VO guy (who ROCKS), etc. to document this process😂😂😂 It really is something to behold...sorry this is SO LONG!!! - but maybe it was informative to some? I hope! 🙏👍🙂 ANYHOW! Much love as always! Can't wait to show you and TELL you more!

Equal temperament, that would explain it. Pretty cool. I work a LOT with pianos so maybe thats why i picked it out. Will look forward to all the finer details when it comes out officially!

Did I miss it in the hidden caverns of this thread? Is there an eta on this beauty?

Am I correct in guessing that there are four springs for each channel (8 total) in this thing? One associated with each of the frequency knobs?

Reminds me a little of my QuadEight RV10 spring, which if hit very softly, really sounds like a great chamber on vocals. This design will now be the greatest evolution of the history of spring reverbs. The stereo out intrigues me - is it four pairs of springs ? Or panning for each spring ?

Did I miss it in the hidden caverns of this thread? Is there an eta on this beauty? SOON! We've been building them for almost a month now - off and on - prepping for the official launch; as we do 😎🙂👍 To all of the other GREAT questions - we'd love to answer but we've already spilled more beans than we'd like to for the moment, hahaha..! Blackdawg - DEFINITELY a GREAT ear you have there! You heard the ET system "doing it's thing" almost immediately! Their are certainly ways to BLUR the decay a bit more by using the EQ, which is partly why it's there in the first place ;-) christophert - awww shucks!! You're TOO KIND!!! Honestly - hadn't thought of it like that but you're quite spot on! NO WONDER the reaction has been such as it is (AKA - amazingly AWESOME! hahaha). 🙌🤘✌👌
