I must go and check out the drama!! Hope you make it back safe. It got ugly. What a sh1t show!! Holy carps. Who are these Roger Foote, Plain of Jars and Toledo3 users/abusers? They should consider being self-banned from the entire internet, getting on like that. Anyhow, we won't let that happen here. Again.

I love spring verb and use a couple of Radial Tank Drivers to power different tanks. That said, springs are magic on some things and useless on others. So I'm curious to hear what this new AudioScape box does. That said, my real wish is for a boutique company like AS to design an analog rack delay sort of along the lines of my Ibanez AD202 or the Yamaha, but stereo with balanced ins and outs. AudioScape says they have access to NOS parts, so find those old chips and make it happen!

I just never go to GS anymore, who needs that? I only astarted again as part of my role with audioscape, as company evangelist. And wow, it's terrifying how extreme people in the arts/entertainment industries have become in their politics. Anyhow, how about the Spring Reverb???

YES - a stereo E1010 with midi clock in, twice the amount of delay time, transformer balanced I/o, and all around syrupy goodness!!! Charlie? I will consult with you on this if you give me first crack at one!!!!!!!!!

Go Audioscape - make a verb that makes me want to sell my Lexicon PCM92 and my Bricasti. (Then there will be all sorts of threads on GS - like - Do I have to have an Audio-scape Verb! And the answer will be YES YES YES.)
Please consider serious delay in it as well as a comp for the tails. I know a place near Moab that should be sampled! (And it sounds like a spring reverb!)
Maybe call it the "Re-re-verb." At least it is not any more redundant that the Sta(y) --- Level.

I vaguely remember I had a spring reverb in the mid-80's. I forget which brand, probably the Furman or the Fostex.
In the 80's, once I had gotten Lexicon reverbs and delays and the Yamaha Rev 7 digital reverb , the spring reverb seemed crappy to me, so I sold it. Perhaps I was hasty and seduced by having an actual Lexicon I could afford.
I do have the UAD BX20 plug-in. I liked it for a while, but with the Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven, Phoenix Verb, Lexicon LX480, UAD's EMT-140, Pure Plate, SoundToys Little Plate, Poor Plate, Dreamverb, Valhalla Super Massive, and a few others I've forgotten, the spring reverb just didn't do much for me. Most Fender amp plug-ins have the spring reverb on board, so I don't really need a spring reverb for those.
What do you guys like to use a spring reverb for?

I will consult with you on this if you give me first crack at one!!!!!!!!! I've mentioned this to a couple of other builders and their eyes glaze over. How many variations of an 1176 does the world need? Yet I'm not aware that anyone is making a new and improved studio analog delay. Re the delay time, it seems that pedal makers are getting up to 600ms with chips now. Separate settings for both channels and a simple yet lush modulation like the AD202 would be on my wish list. For me it wouldn't have to be all old meets new like Moog did with a software interface etc. If a midi clock doesn't up the costing too much that's fine. But I'm a drummer, so I can dial in 8th notes by ear if it keeps it affordable.

Yes, there's a benefit to using amp reverb while tracking. But sometimes if I know a lot of editing and rearranging will be involved I like to record dry and and add spring reverb after parts are comped and edited. Spring is really hard to beat on a Hammond. Sometimes I think it will work and it doesn't. But other times I'm surprised how perfect it is, as when I recently used it on a banjo track.

I think AS already confirmed that this guy nailed it: “I won't be mad if it's a Sound Workshop or Orban re-issue, but I'd give my left (ahem) knuckle if you said it was going to be a Intersound PRV-1 reissue with a stereo output and that an Intersound IVP reissue is on the horizon.” I looked them up. Nice looking spring reverb with some good features back in the day. Here’s the link to the manual: products.electrovoice.com/binary/PRV-1%20Owners%20Manual.pdfI have no experience with them, but my very first PA mixer was a Tapco. Built like a tank. My AKG BX-5 was balanced stereo I/O, had a semi-parametric EQ, and sounded pretty good on some sources (snare in particular).. An updated, stereo PRV-1 would be right in Audioscape’s wheelhouse and really cool.

Could we be over/underthinking this?
Perhaps AS Verb literally means that we are going to start using the VERB Audioscape/Audioscaping in place of "mixing" like when pretentious people on HGTV started saying tablescaping instead of "setting the table"?

This is awesome! I’ve been leaning on my rack DOD spring as my default verb for the past few months. It’s terrible, it’s noisy, zero headroom, has horrible ground hum, hideous distortion,, but if I manage to overcome the problems it is just so much better! Been wondering why nobody does a pro audio spring, I figured I was a loner on this. Looks like I was very wrong!

Howdy, first post. This seems a good thread to introduce myself, as it was the bizarre AS GS thread shenanigans that led me here. Glad to be here, and boy I can’t wait for this reverb. I am very strict about not using anything digital in my studio and have been using a custom spring for years to great effect. However it’s totally passive and I’ve constantly hassled with what to put in front of it and what to return it with....that little reverb has enough sh*t on either side of it now that I could’ve just bought an EMT haha. I know the AS reverb is gonna be great straight away, so stoked. And hello everyone! Thanks for having me.

Welcome thecolorfulway!
I'm curious if you use tape instead of a DAW to remain analogue?

Welcome thecolorfulway! I'm curious if you use tape instead of a DAW to remain analogue? Oh yeah you bet. Tascam 388 8 track and a Tascam 32 mix down deck. Both will be upgraded eventually, ever on the hunt for a 1” 8 I have a laptop that I begrudgingly bring in to print digital masters but I never track, mix or edit on it. All editing is done with the blade or clever punching

He did mention RGO , really surprised me that it wasn’t deleted. I've invited a couple of the mods and a few good members to come over and join us here, and they haven't banned me yet! yet. Yet is the operative word.
