Exactly - I made sure my rack bays were 19 1/8" wide to allow for this, and personal preference recessed the rails 1/4" from the front. Measure twice, cut once... Both of those are really nice. Nice to see some options that are a little more decor-friendly than the typical studio desk. ericn - have you ever had something like this built? I have no idea even the ballpark of what such a thing would cost, I'm curious. No I have built a few though, every market is different but the advantages of first having something made out of hardwood vs particle board. Then truly built for your space and how you work is priceless. Even if you started with a heavy duty frame that was from some office furniture recycling place and just had the top built you would be ahead. The other thing is shipping all the manufactured stuff gets expensive and back in my gearpimp days I just assumed it would show up damaged. I have seen very few of the manufactured desks that age well, lots of sagging tops and bridges, nothing worse than a 3 space rack that is only useable as a 2.75 space because of sag. That’s another major complaint about manufactured desks, the racks are often spec’ed at exactly the size of the rack panels no wiggle room for that slightly to large panel. Most of them also have the racks set back a bit and some gear can be hard to use.

Hello. First time posting here. Have really enjoyed the discussions I’ve been following the last few weeks.
I have had the output platform for a year or so now. I really love it. Perfect for my space. I’m a big diy guy myself and have built all my acoustic treatment and do most of my home improvement etc - I don’t think there is anyway that I could have built a nicer looking desk for less money. And that’s not even factoring in all the time.
If you are considering one with the keyboard tray be very careful to check that your keyboard will fit - a lot of 88 keys will not they are too tall or too wide. I have the Arturia key lab 88 and it’s perfect in there.
Not at home at the moment but will try to get a picture of how it works in my space. But I would highly recommend it.

Anyone in the EU should check these Buso Audio guys out. busoaudio.com/I got the Producer 88 desk, with the lower rack rail options between the side legs (very useful) and when putting it together I was very impressed with the quality of the wood pieces and finish, plus assembly was easy.
I am looking now at what I can do to get a few extra rack spaces though ... As I have run out of room ... but that's my problem, not Buso's :-)

Another EU shoutout for www.curuxacustoms.com which happen to be a few km from me. I have one of their desks and it’s top notch.

I made my desk for around $600 using 8020.net. It's like an adult erector set. It's pretty cool because you can customize however you want and then you just screw it all together.

The biggest problem I have with any of these types of desks is that I cannot for the life of me imagine having my computer monitor up that high! My speakers sit at 36” from the floor, and my computer monitor sits well below that...

Hey, what did you end up choosing? Share your experience, and the end result. Interesting to see if you were able to save space and choose a more ergonomic desk? By the way, many software companies also make desks. But if there is a lot of hardware and several monitors, it is better to look for a more stable desk, I guess. I had a choice between some models from eurekaergonomic.com/standing-desks/ section. I liked the one with the lift mechanism. It fits me perfectly and fits into the interior, but whether it will fit all my stuff I know. I can't work without my gizmos (little things).

Welcome jackmark. I ended up with a Sterling Modular 3 bay desk. Fantastic. Worth the money IMO.

Revisiting this topic. Considering the Sessiondesk Gustav from the Audioscape site. Anybody seen or used one of the Sessiondesk desks? One problem I may run into is that I just got confirmation that Katrina and Søren are going out of town for four days in late March, which is basically the only chance I would have to totally rip apart my current setup and redo everything around a new desk. There may not be time for the Gustav to get here by then.

I’m still on the Sterling Modular 2 bay. I don’t really have the time to change out a desk. It’s a lot of time and effort.

I've had a Zaor Onda for a few years, but I just bought a Flexispot desk, some speaker stands, and the Audiorax keyboard sliders to mount on the bottom of it. Gonna have to rework my rack and patchbay to move those 12 spaces I'm losing around, but I got a upwards facing rack from Audiorax to sit under the desk and make up 10 of those 12 spaces. Maybe I'll hate it. Maybe I'll love it. Was considering a sit stand from one of the bunch of other companies, but I was looking at 2k+ and none of them were perfect anyway. I think I'm going to like having a big flat desktop with a keyboard underneath. And it's a lot easier to sell a normal ass standing desk later if I hate it. Speaking of.. anyone want a Zaor Onda? :x

A good long time friend, who is an excellent wood worker built my desk. I was finally able to upload a screen shot of my work space. I am in the middle of modding my desk and adding some extra spaces under the arm rest for my patchbays and hard drives, and computers.
