I agree. I sold console one and my faderport. They just got in the way when it was all said and done. Oh, man. I can't imagine not using Console One. It's just so helpful and useful for my workflow. It's a super disappointing moment when I realize I need to add a plugin with different options than Console One gives me. WHY MUST I USE THIS MOUSE!!!!!!!! ?? I hear. I was there too but kept finding myself coming back to the mouse. I still use a console approach with PA SSL99000J.

The problem with console one is the fades and knobs workflow is there if you use the SSL ones but the sound is not and that workflow is incongruent with current DAWs. There are better sounding channel strips (bx_9000 and Infinistrip) and you’re going to have to get the mouse or trackball out anyway.
What we really need is an SSL or Softube DAW or a UAD controller for Luna. But again, you’d just want to use other plugins eventually. The “mixing” daws could even end up being just as feature limited or half-assed technically as the “DJ” and “EDM producer” and “composer” daws and require import into Pro Tools or Reaper to produce a stereo mix without having to deal with artifacts or defective dsp.
There are people whose full time jobs consist of cleaning up Ableton, FL Studio, and Logic sessions in Pro Tools.

I’m going to look at this simply this way for the money I’m either going to go Behringer on the low end used artist mix so I can use EUcon or at this price Avid S1 with iPad Pro add a doc and another iPad Pro, why is it every time I try to runaway from AVID I keep coming back ?

It's hard to use another controller once you've used EUCON. The VCA spill is so useful - there is a video out there of Alan Mendelsohn going through his at-home mixing and the fact that he can have a fader called ORCHESTRA > hit a button and spill that out to sections (violins, perc, etc.) > hit a button and further spill the faders to, say, the individual percussion spot mics. Magic. I don't know of any other system that allows that (maybe those Nuendo consoles but I've never used one)

That Vintage King video on the SSL controller was frustrating. A zoom call with no video from the SSL guy, just a static picture, so you can't see at all what he's talking about unless VK edits in a shot of the controller.

I thought exactly the same thing... extremely disappointing for the first video about a new product. Cheers Wiz

The problem with COVID-19 is the customers learn that they have enough gear.
I just can speak for myself I am fine with using the mouse, there is a console to my right and there is no desire to use it for mixing. Not to forget my friends complains about what it takes to run a big console, and I am also sometimes frustrated with my small one. Maintaining the thing costs time, lifetime is the currency I pay with.
Times have changed and IMO desktop control surfaces are outdated. I am to 100% happy with shortcuts and my trackpad. If I need to touch two faders at the same time or two pan pots I use my I-pad, the faders move as precise as real ones I have no idea how they coded this remote app.

I’ve met Fadie a number of times and he’s a seriously knowledgeable and good guy. But... I made it about 6 mins before snoozing off from that vid. Could have been done wayyyy better.

All I want is motorized faders in a control surface. I don't even agree with the console 1 thing because it presumes some kind of SSL type workflow, doesn't fit my insane plugin stack workflow and the softube consoles aren't digitally clean enough. Multiple motorized faders just saves pass throughs when dialing in the automation

We just installed two Avid S1 and an Avid Dock on a sliding tray over our console. Still dialing it in, but worth every penny. Works well with Cubase, and is designed for Pro Tools. Don't need anything else. It would be cool if Harrison Mixbus incorporated Eucon, but I don't think that will ever happen.

I use two old iPad 2 with a controller software - both together 140 bucks with fresh batteries.
Yes it's not a fader in its glass, but my brain got used to it.

Actually people are buying more gear likes it’s the end times! Used gear is hard to come by and the prices are inflated well above what they should be. Has me looking around to see what to sell But... my question is how did you set up to control the faders with a TrackPad - I have one and find it works great for everything EXCEPT doing fader moves - I haven’t tried it in a while but I remember having to do some awkward holding down three fingers while pushing down or some such impossibly awkward thing (seems like it might be natural for a guitar player but I’m not one( Never went further than that but I also have an Artist Mix so I wasn’t super motivated but I would appreciate it if you let me know what setting you are using to control the fader because I love the idea of using the trackpad

When I read your post I thought “Oh my gosh did SSL get a guy called Fadie to demo a product with faders?!?” I was having visions of an animated audio helper like Microsoft’s Clippy. 🤣 (I realize after trying to watch that boring video it’s Fadi but still. Lol)

Hey Which app are you running on the iPad 2? cheers Wiz It mimics the Mackie Control. apps.apple.com/de/app/daw-control/id574125383Works perfect under older iOS systems. Big deal is that they found a workaround for the bigger jumps in logic when the faders are low. Don’t ask how they do it. Works very precise. The jog wheel is a big plus too. Once you get used to it you do tend to use it for special tasks.

Combine this with the first apple trackpad and its perfect.

This doesn't seem to offer much over even an ancient Command 8 for Pro Tools users. It's cool you can put multiple UF8s together to get more faders, but that would get expensive.

I haven’t had time to read this whole thread, but you think they would have put transport controls on it. The assignable buttons could work for that, but it seems convoluted. Any modern controller should have the basic transport controls right on it. Stop... play... rewind... forward... record.... yeah, the basics. SSL would have an order from me if it had transport controls.

It’s just that plastic build quality that makes me nervous 😟
