I've been told by lots of people the Desser's "The One".. I have the Waves Desser, and my mic's not very sibilant now, so I think I'm OK, but I'd get this if I didn't have something already.

well.... i picked up the pro Q, and i have to say after working with it for about 3 hours, compared to my waves linear phase eq, it totally kills it!!! I can almost guarantee i'll never use the waves unit again, the pro Q is completely intuitive, and i absolutely love the analyzer, as im learning it, i hover over a button and an explanation pops up...? really cool, it just makes quick work of stuff. I give this 2 thumbs up for sure! also, i have 8 instantiations of the linear phase maximum latency going on, and my CPU's are here.. that's what i'm talkin about!!!

And it actually sounds very very good, no more sweeping either which is worth the price of admission. I use that eq 75% of the time, just love it.

Yes, well...? actually, in linear phase mode, it sounds like nothing at all, which is what i wanted! High and low pass filters without the resonant bump is a big deal for me, i'm a happy guy with this already 8)

I have Pro-C, Pro-Q, and Pro-L. All are really good plugs. If you need a go to clean compressor or EQ, both of these are really nice. Pro-L is my go to limiter too.

I have a cross between a Newf and a Golden and she's the best dog I've ever had! So I just demoed pro ds and it's excellent...but...I don't know if it's better than the DSM...more tests...

Here's…. Charlie ! Only his second or third day here, he's all smiles now. I'm trying to get up the desire today to switch opamps again in my Warm Audio ToneBeast. I tried the John Hardy 990+, and it's very Hi-Fi, but I the gain's low. I'll put back the original opamp, wand try the John Hardy in the x731 position, ( the TB has two opamps to choose from). Is there a demo available for the FabFilter Desser? Attachments:

Get a pair of Scott Leiber red dots, and be amazed 8)

You're probably right Tony, the 731 side is an API type pre, but the x18 side's different. I'm leaning toward preferring the original opamp from Warm Audio to the John Hardy in the x18 position. I'm going to switch back to the original and compare a vocal I did through the 990+ to the original. I figured since I'l have the lid opened, why not try the 990+ in the 731 side, just in case…
I'll check into the FabFilter to see if there's a demo available later tho severing..

I stand by my original advice: get the FX (or Pro) Bundle, and be done. I instantiate the EQ on everything, and the comp kills it on bass guitar and vocals. The de-esser rules too, so easy to use, and the visual feedback really informs on what's being processed. I know you should rely on your ears, but I'm not that good yet, so the visual design that Fabfilter has developed is just the best for newbs like me.

I ended up snagging Saturn. Been wanting that for a long time and I really just don't feel like I need the other stuff. I know it's all killer, but I am happy with what I have. Saturn however, with the multi-band saturation is something I really hadn't seen before. I really haven't tried it yet, but I am thinking on bass it will be great to keep the low end clean and find a certain band to overdrive. Might even been cool on the kick for that factor - nice deep low and a crunchy top.

I checked them out and grabbed the pro package. i have wanted to buy the ds after cowboy and ragan's recommendation for a while.
the savings on this sale are really great
opened up all plugs in a drum session and fooled around a bit; immediately impressed with all the design elements in the gui and the control you have over each plug
i know use your ears but very cool that the plugs gui also display the freq cure overlaid with the plug controls and template; very well thought out !
