Wow this is a bummer in times when I teach students online. Never had big issues with RME for ø 18 years. My mistake was to buy new... the USB connection just died.
I hope this is not because they wanted to save 3 cents. If this is the case it’s a first warning sign.
Hope they do not go the beancounter way.

Huh? Want to explain more? I run an rme 802 on usb - zero issues. I have a FireWire wire pcie express if need to be to hook up if needed but I’ve never noticed a difference in latency... they certainly distinguish discontinue it- what’s your OS and hardware? Just curious!

Are you on Windows 10? I had a bunch of problems with the USB connection to my Babyface last month - first issues I've ever had. Kept showing that the USB device wasn't receiving power correctly. I think there may have been a driver change in a recent Windows update. I switched to running the RME through a powered USB hub and the problems went away.

I know usually they are tanks bug mine is new and grrrrr RME is always good with warranty work. I hope so. They first wanted to make me believe that it’s not warranty work. This was undermining my trust. Than told them that the interface won’t go to RME. I will send it the retailer Thomann. Out of a sudden it was warranty work again. WTF the unit is 4 month in use.... RME never treated me like this in 18 years were I spread the word for them, on and offline. Usually I call them, tell them it’s warranty work, send the receipt with the unit, two weeks later I get the unit back with a short notice what was wrong .... done. They once changed all connectors for free because it was bad luck. That’s service for loyalty....
