This extended voucher/sale has me thinking of trying some of their other stuff out. What are you guys using?
I have the Townhouse, SSL G, and Purple 77. I think they all are really good.
I demoed the Neold but it wasn’t blowing me away.

The Focusrite console is interesting if you happen to like its sound - it's different than the SSLs for sure. The Acme Opticom is nice for some gritty, character compression. If pushed too hard, it can make the source sound smaller (IMO), but in the right doses, it can be quite nice.

1. Neold v76u73 is the insane 2. SPL Dereverb + is insanely useful 3. Lindell 80 starts out worse than UAD and even the Neve 70s pre PSP Infinistrip and ClassicQ but as you increase oversampling to insanely cpu taxing 16x (there’s no optimization like The Glue and Tokyo Dawn), it pulls far ahead in Neve warmth and steel 4. ProAudioDSP DSM can squish it all. I haven’t really found a use for this other than insane squish when demoing it. 5. Acme Opticom rules for grit as Mark said.

I haven't tried higher than that b/c my CPU would run out!

It's an older one, but BX Refinement gets constant use over here. Definitely a go-to for alleviating harshness. I use it on almost everything, even if it's barely doing anything.
Another oldie that's really cool is the Lindell 6X-500. Drive it hard for instant kick drum smack.

Maybe I should pick up some more psp plugs with their Windows 2000 installers.

I got the Black Box and SPL Iron and find them both icing on any cake. Thanks for the tip on the Lindell 80, Dan. I never could get that to sound any good. I'm tiptoeing around the 9000J, I don't know what half the controls like the dynamics push pots do.
I must say, the holiday PA sales were great.

Instant Hyper distorted modern pop, rock, and edm drums. I just have no reason to ever use them. also for Lindell 80, if your stereo image gets volatile, link the TMNT channels or use Channels 23 and 24. Those have the tightest matching. Otherwise it can sound like gear that needs to see a tech. EDIT: It is 23 and 24. Just checked again.

As usual, I ended up buying more than I actually needed from PA. I have most of their stuff. The ones I use the most are: SSL 9000J, 4000E - on every drum track Acme Opticom - drum crush only Black Box ADPTR AUDIO Metric AB - when I have to master myself bx_cleansweep - simple HPF / LPF - on most channels
I have so many but they don't get used that much. I wonder why I keep buying more and more. I guess we all find something that works and we tend to stick with it. I don't find anything bad about all the PA stuff I have. I just have other go-to plugins I use more often. The SSL channel strips are the best for drums that I have found. I still don't get the hype about Neold. It didn't do anything for me. I must be using it completely wrong.

Thinking about getting : sales only has 10-12 hours left lol 1.) Black box - $39.99 sale - ( Michael Brauer here i come 😘 ) 2.) Purple MC77 - $39.99 sale - ( use 1176 a lot for vox ) 3.) Acme Opticom XLA3 - $29.99 ( always wanted since I demoed ) 4.) SSL Console G $29.99 or is SSL 4000 E worth 49.99 (have waves) 5.) Townhouse Bus Comp -$29.99 ( is this redundant with Waves SSL, VSC-2, Kotelnikov? ) 6.) Any other suggestions ( Neold, SHMC, etc ) Don’t want to just buy a diff comp version of plugs I may have so may rid some of the redundant ones. Thank

Okay just demoed the lindell 80 in a session and with the oversampling up it sounds really good. Gonna have to grab it. The SPL Iron is pretty interesting as well.

I forgot to mention SPL Iron. I really like that thing and it’s on every master fader over here. Also like it on piano and probably other stuff if I get around to working it in.

Just for fun I bought the pa_névé_bx strip @9.99 € and that one is to my ears closer to my Névé imprint compared to the Lindell 88. It's modeled after a newer Névé Design but reminds me more on my Vintage Névé Clones in my Rack. And it's not a CPU HOG!
Plug Ins never have been so good....PA beats Slate with ease.... PA take their promise serious, very serious. Maybe one good thing about my German people. If they do something with technology they make a plan, and they think two or three times before they act. And they only do it when they are very certain that it will work, they hate to do shots into the blue. My guesswork is Dirk at PA is no different from this mentality. He is not doing any console simulation he wants to do the one and only you will ever need. Some may say this is narcissistic. I agree, but it's used in a good way.

Do you get AAX dsp installers included or is that separate cost? Their support page on the website inky says AAX, Audiosuite, VST, AU, RTAS, TDM.

I'm goo-goo over the channel strips, I own all of them. They're a little big on my screen but they sound great.
I also like a lot of the digital utilities like bx_Control.
I've used a ton of them once, a few several times, and I even own a few I haven't opened.
SPL does things differently, so they landed on my last purchase about an hour ago. I have the Iron and now the Passeq. They both sound "big" and have "vibe" for days. The Vitalizer is also really good and can be pushed quite a bit further than some other "maximizers" or "exciters" without getting gross. The Plugin Alliance version is updated compared to the older UAD code so it should be better in some ways. I guess PA washed their hands of UAD code porting and UA just sells legacy code. I really don't know what goes behind the scenes.
If you want to get away from UAD plugins, just buy the Plugin Alliance equivalents. The Ampeg bass amps for example, are magnificent.
UAD's guitar pedals are 25% more realistic than the Plugin Alliance pedals, but I ain't paying no god damned hundred bucks for a big muff and a tube screamer code. I usually use free or peanut price guitar pedals in the box. And they are literally all around me in physical form at any given time when I'm playing my stacks.
The sale was great I am racking them up. There are some I will never buy, of course.

If AAX DSP is listed on the individual plug-in page, it can be included with the installer. I just installed the DSP versions of Passeq, DSM V3 and BE-100.

The worst are the ITB Boss overdrives. They just don't sound right.

BE-100 is a really good Marshall in the box. But Amplitube 5 and the free Poulin HyBrit are also great. A lot of them sound pretty similar, really.

I got the Fuse ones the other day, 10 bucks for 5 pedals, pretty cool. Not really my most used effects but I had to jump on those. The germanium overdrive was the most interesting to me. Haven't got any Cytomic "gear" yet, but I was looking at The Scream. There was a free Audiority anniversary overdrive that just came out that I really liked. It's called Dr. Drive.
I like the Boss SD-1 in real life so the yellow plugins come out sometimes. The IK one is pretty good. These are typically good in front of a marshall simulation, for, I don't know, Slash tones or something, "hevay."

subspace thanks! PA just confirmed as well! Just purchased I got the mix master bundle for $149.99. I had 5 plugs in my cart, narrowed to 3 & they were around $120. A pop up said I could get a year for $149 + $199.99 PA plugin voucher to purchase w/e plugins I liked/ used the most out of the sub. Will mess around w the sub ( & AAX DSP ) on some older sessions & narrow down the key players. Don’t want to use a subscription on clients work & have a recall a year later & be dead in the water cuz I didn’t buy a perm license to a rando pluggo. Only downside i see atm.
