You mean from 3/8 to 5/8, or from 5/8 to 3/8?
I use the 3/8 to 5/8 occasionally when using c-stands or light stands with mics but I've never seen a 5/8 to 3/8 adapter.

svart Yes, that's what I meant. I guess it depends on which end you're starting from.

svart Yes, that's what I meant. I guess it depends on which end you're starting from. It's always described as "from what-to-what" So if you have 3/8 stud you're trying to adapt to a 5/8 mic clip, it'll be 3/8 to 5/8 adapter.

Well, I know which set of threads the adapters themselves prefer to call home base judging from their undying and—let's just call it out—clingy love for my mic clips.
Perhaps the solution is therapy?
"Adapter. Buddy. You need to face the fact that she's just not that into you."

Perhaps the solution is therapy? "Adapter. Buddy. You need to face the fact that she's just not that into you." Ah yes, I know that well. I only use the adapters that have the slots in them that I can use a coin or something to twist them out after a particularly hateful adapter lodged itself in a mic clip one time..

I have to use 5/8" to 3/8" adapters in the video world sometimes. They're lifesavers when I need them. I despise those little 3/8" to 5/8" inserts, though. Nasty little buggers.

I use enough video type attachments for mic arrays that I keep a wide assortment.

I've never seen a 5/8 to 3/8 adapter. I have a few I think came with Oktava mic mounts.

I use enough video type attachments for mic arrays that I keep a wide assortment. I remember when my road “go bag” was a Craftsman rolling toolbox. People would scream about the truck space, but the day they would otherwise have to hunt for something like these or a forged eyebolt in Topeka they loved it.

The Røde stereo bar uses the small thread posts, so, for the first time in a quarter-century of doing this, I now use the inserts on the reg.

European style is the smaller mount (I think).

Heavy, awkward, and usually redundant, but we've never had a gig go south because we didn't have a spare mic, cable, adapter, pedalboard power pigtail, DI box, tool, or whatever.

I have several if the Decca bars too which are awesome.

Detest them. 5/8 all the way. You can get 5/8 to 3/4 adapters for old RCA mics. We should have everything standardized by now.

The Røde is like that because there are these 1" spacers so the mic and cables that go on either side so the mics and cables are not hitting one another. It's a really great design, so I don't mind using the adaptors.
