Anyone ever had an optical cable that won’t come out of the port? It’s actually in a new tv. I put in a shorter cable temporarily and now I can’t get the damn thing out. I’m sure I could force it, but I’ve broken one before.

Although I’m not sure I should introduce wd40 Into the optical Jack. Lol. svart? I think there are fasteners that keep it in there, but there’s nothing to squeeze to release them.

I wouldn't get any kind of oil or liquid in there! I've not seen any toslink cables with latches. I did a search and I don't see any with latches or anything to hold them besides the normal pinch fit.

I know - It’s so weird. If you Google “stuck optical cable” you can see I’m not the only one to have had the issue...but there’s no answer for how to deal with it other than yank it out. But I’ve done just that and broken the latch on an Apollo.

Maybe one of those got dislodged and made it get stuck.

This is a dumb thought perhaps but, if it has one of those little latch doors, do you think it needs to be pushed up so be ball of the optical cable doesn’t hang up when you pull it out? Would a toothpick or something similar be able slide through the upper corner of the latch door hole and hold it up long enough to free the ball?
I don’t know if it would work and it could be a totally stupid idea.

I've had stuck doors / latches on my RME optical ports after I stupidly used a toslink cable instead of straight up optical and forced it a tiny bit. If there's a latch / port door that's stuck, yea get up in there with a toothpick or tiny screwdriver and push it further up & in* because it needs to clear the back of the cable head. If there's no port door, I got nuthing, the cables were probably different sizes and its just stuck.
* if you're unsure, maybe don't try this

Those stupid doors and expensive cables will get you every time. In fact I ordered what were supposed to be the cheapest thin OEM cables , guy was out so he “upgrade “ me to some fancy brand name cables one got stuck in my Google fiber cables box till I yanked the sucker out with a small vice grips. Cable is dead now, not that big of loss.
