Sorry...
Sorry...
Sorry...
...but I can't explain what this mic does for me. It makes me want to practice. It inspires me. It gives suggestions. Nothing else I've ever used can do what it does.
There are two KM84s about 10 feet in front and spaced about ten feet apart just to give a bit of stereo ambience. Bass was overdubbed with the 47. Grace preamps. But the heavy lifting is all the 47.
Man, it's taken years to finally get here. The hard work and waiting was worth it.
Merry Christmas, all.

Haven’t had a chance to listen, but man, I’m really beginning to believe that tools make an enormous difference. There’s certainly a lot to be said for the whole “it’s not the arrow...it’s the Indian” but damn, really good arrows make you sound more like your heroes. Even changing my tele pickups to some Cavaliers - it’s like “ohhhh - THAT’S what has been missing.”

I love the old school moving up and back to and from the mic. That adds class to the whole performance. Love it.

Badass, man. Great song and performances all around. Loved it.
Looks and sounds like a killer room as well. Understood on the mic and what it does for the whole vibe and feel. Thanks for sharing.

Haven’t had a chance to listen, but man, I’m really beginning to believe that tools make an enormous difference. That's the realization I hit on. I think it's leaning into whatever works best for you though, not to start the "plugins vs hardware" argument in any way. The same approach applies to cabinet and furniture making though, 100%. The tools make an enormous difference.

Congrats 🎉 this sounds great! Pardon my ignorance, is this a real TFunk/ Neumann Large Body W VF14m & M7/ K47?
What pre was used? How much gain & or trim ?
Will have a listen on my FP01 In the studio! Have listened to a few of @vincent R. Mic shootouts on YT & those are very interesting to hear.
My RTZ 9762 Dual Combo changes the sound of my Thiersch M7 blue line FET mic when around 35-40 gain & even more when impedance & termination buttons used ( changes tonality ) Also changes dep on how I gain stage into & out of the WA76 comp & how much GR as well.

Sounds great! Super cool to see such a simple setup and you all move around to balance it. Magical sounding.

I assume it was in cardioid Dan? There are many pretenders but..... Send it my way when the grass has grown over you.
Cheers, Ross

like musical ballet! All of the above, really excellent and also props on the vocal, a complex melody and interesting phrasing challenges,, very well done but always supporting the song!

Chase, it’s a short body, Tele badged, from 1961. Completely original inside with K47 brass ring capsule. Bought it from Klaus Heyne.
Klaus bought it in Cologne, Germany in 1983, and it lived tucked away in a box until a few months ago.
Grace preamp was set to 30dB of gain.

It’s in cardioid.
However, it is switched to omni for the upright bass.

Absolutely beautiful! Man, you should do a duet with Dolly, if she ever comes a-calling. Cos you both have radar-perfect pitch. You made my morning, sir!

I much prefer this kind of "Authentic" singing, with a beautiful voice like Dan's.
Over the Star Search/American Idol/The Voice, kind of thing. More meaningful to me, for one. Chris
