One of the reasons I'm [finally] considering a PT upgrade is so I can try the Sunset Sound plugin! For $99 on sale it’s a great plugin. I’m using Reaper in a cheaper Ryzen build, and I haven’t tested it in a big project yet. I have done input monitoring while tracking and it’s best experience I’ve had working that way - usually the latency delay bothers me, not here, I switch to a plate or chamber if it does. A few things are not perfect: the GUI is a little small by default, so I resize it to fill the screen. That’s when it becomes way, way more fun! And you can see all the knobs better etc. After I close the plugin and try to re-open, it’s not resized, and it’s actually messed up in Reaper, the GUI is chopped up and not all the way visible. Sounds fine though, I just can’t adjust it. I have to double click to open the plugin in its own window and resize it again, then I am back to being happy. Also the demo license manager is a little finicky to get running after a reboot. I figure once I buy it will be better? It’s worth the hassle still though.

Vincent.. is that recording for sale somewhere? Sounds awesome! Which one, Granada? There is a recording of Granada on my debut album. It's the same orchestration and comparable performance, but not the same performance. It was tracked at Gurari Studio in their operea hall. My high C is in top shape on the actual recording. I was feeling good that day. It's on iTunes and Amazon. music.apple.com/us/album/just-the-beginning/903751118Autumn leaves I haven't released yet. I made some mistakes when I first got into youtube. Now any full performances I post will eventually be out for sale or streaming, but I haven't released this one yet. We'll see.

SP2016 is fantastic, quickly became a go to for me. Exponential Audio all the time. Some of the best. Cheap now, which is crazy. PSP 2445 on snare drum, always, just a little, short time and low mix. Tip from jcoutu1UAD or Sound Toys EMT plates all the time. One in a while some hardware spring reverb from the Pioneer SR-101. Or some PSP or UAD spring reverb in the box. Maybe some Blackhole for special circumstances. A million other reverbs on second call. There really are too many. There was a while I was big into artificial studio room sounds. Altiverb, T Verb, some Nimbus, Waves IR-1. Haven't been doing it much lately. Lots of time and effort put into room mics and distant mics also, worth a mention. I'm downloading the new Inspired Acoustics Inspirata reverb right now, for free. Check it out, it's going to be a $200 plugin later. 9 gigs of IR's. Sweet deal.

monkeyxxx. I've always lusted after Eventide's H9 pedal reverb, but it's proved too expensive when I have other priorities. I've heard one used as a hardware reverb on tracks and it was remarkable.
I have quite a few reverbs, Logic's verbs, a few Waves verbs, Sound Toys Little Plate, 2 Exponential verbs, Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven and Relab's LX480 , UAD's Ocean Way, and a few I'm probably forgetting.
Does the Eventide 2016 do something those other units can't?

It's worth a demo. I find the SP2016 to be kind of '80s retro sounding in a way, a little digital in the sense of being of that time, in a good way. But it's also pretty fat sounding. I think they did a good job with it.
I've lusted after an H9 too, but haven't got into expensive pedals yet. I think my most expensive pedal is probably under $200.
Eventide is porting some of those algorithms into VST plugins now, that you can sometimes buy for $30 or so.
There was this glitch a few days ago and a few people got the entire Eventide Anthology for free, as an upgrade on the website from any plugin. I would be jealous if I didn't already own it myself. Also it was not meant to be, but people are keeping their licenses last I was told.

monkeyxxx, I registered, got the Inspired Acoustic Connect, got the Authentication Code, but when I tried to download the actual reverb and there was nothing in the download folder. I sent them a ticket to hopefully figure it out. I've done downloads of hundred's of plug-ins, and it's always different with every company. Some take 1 minute, some 15 minutes and some take days of back and forth between me and customer service.
I appreciate the heads up on the plug though monkeyxxx. It sounds really interesting. Somewhere down the road that 16 channel reverb that can place instruments within the soundstage could be a game changer.

They say there working on it , but I’ve had two updates and still can’t download it . I also keep getting different sizes of the download fist it was 200 some mb , then 5GB , then 8GB . It looks kool, but I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle Martin don’t know if you have done this , but they say use the trash can icon and trash folders if you restart the download

There's a timer in the app and it says 5 hours and 0% downloaded.

Including the old school Ultrachannel and ultrareverb ported from the pro tools tdm days Those were my first two Eventide plugins I think, a few years back. They're more conventional than some of their other ones they make, but you hear the Eventide "quality" in there, for sure. They are so good at effects, I guess it's what they do.

The Inspired Acoustics download still didn't work. They sent an email, I opened their IA Connect, closed it as suggested, reopened, and their site shows that I've downloaded, but there's nothing in my download folder to open and install. I would think a new company with some innovative and possibly brilliant ideas would have worked out the download thing way before offering it.

Went into my user account and selected the upgrade price for the whole enchilada, which quoted something like $599 (slashed from like $1299 or something for BF deal) but then when I added it to the cart it went to $0 and I “bought” it and all the licenses immediately came through. A buddy of mine got it too. Lucky to stumble across it during the few hours it was happening. A few people said they did it a couple of years ago but for for $1. But then someone on GS somewhat affiliated with Eventide said it was indeed a glitch but they weren’t going to try to revoke the licenses. Who knows. Pretty wild though. I have a lot of pretty cool stuff to get acquainted with...

I use a mix of algorithmic and IR reverbs. On the IR side, I've used P2FReverbs library of plates/hardware IRs for a few years now, but wasn't thrilled with the IR host options. Used Space in PT, Space Designer in Logic and then switched to Convology XT to be platform agnostic. Just moved to Reverberate 3 a couple months back and it's killed those hosts for functionality, starting to replace my algorithmic stuff in some cases. On that front, I use a bunch of Eventide still; SP2016, 2016 Stereo Room, Tverb, UltraReverb, Blackhole, MangledVerb and Spring. For cleaner ambience I use Exponential's PhoenixVerb or Nimbus, or the more synthetic verbs in R2/R4. For straight Lexicon sounds, I still use a hardware 300 as I've never tried a plug-in and thought 'Yup, time to get rid of this old thing!' The Waves Abbey Road Plates and Chambers can be cool, I just got another year of WUP buying RS124 so I downloaded the second licenses to another MacBook for use as a dedicated time-based FX box, the AR stuff loves CPU! Outside of that, I've got some one-offs that I'll use for particular sounds, Arturia's 140, ST's Little Plate and PSP 2445, I think everybody has those!

Transatlantic and Capitol are the most impressive on their own, but sometimes they just aren't fast enough to keep up with fast-moving, dense rock and metal stuff. I've been using the UAD 224 a lot more lately. Seems that I can get a lot of what I liked about TAP and CC out of it now that I'm a bit more familiar with it. The UAD 480 sounds a lot better than the Relab and has the Effects algorithm, which I love the In The Past reverse reverb preset of. The 480 sounds a lot more thin than the 224, plus it's so much more complex. So I find it harder to work with. Don't use most of the Eventide stuff much lately but the SP2016 is pretty awesome. T-verb is great for vocals and I include it on my mixes now. Never got into Valhalla, just sounded like a worse take on the stuff it is inspired by. Ocean Way is still being used by me with pre-fader sends as it really makes recordings sound much more lively. Helps to alleviate that kinda flat and static ITB sound. I've thought the Exponential stuff was good, just not preferable to the classics. Seventh Heaven Pro gets in there here and there, usually in place of some other modulation effect. I'd get the UAD BX20 if I had enough coupons to get it down to around $40. It doesn't seem that essential considering what I have already. Tsar-1 is great and a bit overlooked. But I don't use it much. Mostly I just stick to my UAD staples and T-verb.

I used to use Variety of Sound epicverb and when you eqed the trash can out of that, Valhalla Vintage sounded terrible compared to it. Those plugs were 32 bit and windows only so they flew by a lot of people.

I never thought about using it for black metal, but that seems like an appropriate application. Surely worth a demo or an impulse sale purchase. I have a friend that uses it for "experimental techno" also, which kind of sounds like some overlap with black metal in my head.
