I'd gladly exchange my few kick ass mics for that studio any day . There's some nice gear there, but I don't get the impression he's a true gearhead. My guess is he'll grab a couple of higher end workhorse mics eventually.

Also, I'm sure a well tuned room like that and so forth goes a looong way in bringing out the best in any microphone. EDIT- Just looked on their Instagram and they have a legit U47 in for a session. It is Nashville afterall- sure they can source/rent microphones pretty easily.

Man why are people shitting on him doing exactly what he wants? Who cared about Rode NT1As and SM7Bs. Dude's room is cooler than mine and it's exactly what he wanted. Kudos, and I hope he makes tons of great music out of there!! I don't think anyone is shitting on them intentionally. People love to critique and figure out why folks do what they do, especially in such an opinion based industry. It helps folks figure out where they are in relation to others and helps them figure out where they're going as well. Kinda like A/B comparison to other's mixes with your own mix to see how you stack up. BTW, the last Silverstein record you did is in the regular rotation in my studio as one of my A/B comparisons.

Soooooooooo..... With all of that investment and experience, I see Rode NT1-As, SM58s, and SM7b for vocal mics. Tell me again, guys. Why am I demoing Heiserman and Upton? I need a little reassurance that I'm not a total idiot. I just spent roughly $13,000 on a U-48.
You have a long way to go before your idiocy is total.

This place looks great. The gear isn't meme, hype, or flavor of the month enough for rappers and producers but this looks fucking killer for a people who can play drums on a Glynn Johns-ish type micing or mic a cab. That drum room looks great. A lot of the drummers who can't play with that because they suck and the engineer didn't mic the overheads well at all. Yeah they're post hipster yuppie types on the website but this has interior decorating magazine aesthetics to appeal to women and some good stuff. Only thing I would change is rip the goddamn Grace outta the monitoring path.

One of the first things people comment on at my studio is how good the vibe and decor is. Its definitely a selling point, and helps artists stay on task, feel creative, and are working in a professional setting.

I’m starting work on my new room in January and need interior design ideas for a place where musicians can feel at home.

A little too clean for me. 😁 Also looking at the floor plan on his site (which is really cool that he put that up) it's around a 900SF building with the control room around ~250ish SF. I wonder what the frequency response is like in there and if it would have been better to forgo the extra booths on each side to make it larger. Either way would love to have something like that in my backyard!

It looks like a pretty cool setup, as far as function, but I am not a fan of all the white and light. I like light colored walls, and less lighting. The thing about windows is they make you very aware of both the outside world AND the time of day. None of which I want people thinking about when they are in the studio.
