Telefunken USA already has a $9,000 U47, and it sounds tremendous. So, the new Neumann capsule supposed to sound even better? Having listened to their U47 I don't know if that's even possible.

If it’s $11k, I think I’d just spend $15k on a real one.

That being said, I’m pretty damn happy with my $3k Heiserman.

I have compared, side by side, the Heiserman 47 with both K47 and M7 capsules and the TeleFunken U47m and the Heiserman H47tube wins HANDS DOWN. It isn't even a minor difference. It is clearly superior. Do you really want that VK limited edition? Just buy 3 or 4 Heisermans and you're WAY ahead. JMO.

For that price I could put together one hell of a nice mic locker!

You would think on a 10,000 dollar mic they would manage to get the xlr mounted straight.

LOL! Maybe they'll knock off $2,000 for the defect.

You would think on a 10,000 dollar mic they would manage to get the xlr mounted straight. Yes! The very FIRST thing I noticed. I know I am OCD but I wouldn't send a "home-made" DI box out the door with crooked connectors. Ugh! D.

You would think on a 10,000 dollar mic they would manage to get the xlr mounted straight. It's Telefunken, it's probably just a rebranded Chinese mic, lol.

Well anybody that's ever mounted Neutrik xlr's in a panel know that they want to twist because of their layout but still it is not hard to overcome this even at a much lower price point.
I am sure the VK U47 sounds terrific. I know the engineers at Neumann and they make a great capsule. Telefunken does not cut corners on their flagship mics and so I'm sure every component is as well chosen as every other boutique mic. Some people would argue over power supply design but you could say that of many clones.
The real drawback is the price when there are so many great clones cheaper.

I’m glad to hear all the love for the Heiserman. Based on the clips I’ve heard here, it’s hard to imagine any 47 clone sounding any better. It’s definitely on the wish list.

IMHO Heiserman makes a better sounding capsule-and microphone, than the present T-Funk 47... And it seems rhetorical to point out, having the actual Neumann capsule will definitely help T-Funk out. Though more limited in experience compared to Ward, I had the same experience singing/trying the Heiserman U47's vs. the T-Funk. Heiserman was wise indeed to offer both the K47/M7 options. They certainly cover a ton of ground that way. With $10K, you could snag both. And has $$ left over to put towards adding something complementary, like a Tonelux JC 37, or a Soyuz 017. Chris P.S. One acid test for me, was when Heiserman put the U47 FET Reissue, right next to their H47 FET mic. I was stunned when the H47 clearly sounded somewhat superior, to the U47 FET (on my voice). And I loved how the Neumann sounded too! Unless I A/B'd them directly like that, I'd happily be none the wiser.
