I'm going to buy new cables to connect my outboard gear to my interface. Anyone know a good, reasonable resource for custom cables? I want something decent (mogami? neutrik?) that will save $$ over retail. Need a total of 10 - 3' cables: five 1/4" TRS to XLRM, and five 1/4" TRS to XLRF.
I know the cheapest is to do it myself, but I'm not equipped nor experienced to do the soldering.

resource for custom cables? I want something decent . Redco all the way for custom. I generally do Mogami, but their house brand is excellent too. They do high quality, very good work. Never had a problem with any cable I've bought from them. And I've been dealing with them for close to 20 years now.

You can’t beat the prices for true custom cables or the quality! I stopped in GC to pick up a cable for my moms church, after 20min of standing by the register I said f&$@ this and order a cable shipped to the church from REDCO for less! They had 4 people by the door greeting checking bags. Manager asked if I found what I needed. Didn’t like me saying “Yeah I ordered it from REDCO while waiting for your dude of the month for less thanks”

I've done a lot of electrical work for Dave at Redco's facility over many years. Every one of the people he has working there is top notch at what they do, and nice people too. What a fantastic operation they have. Watching the process from the inside is pretty cool.

Another vote for Redco, though lately I've been using ProAudioLA as they're local and were willing to build some off the menu cables for me when I was feeling lazy (Grimm TPR stereo insert for Silver Bullet and 5 pin for Vanguard V44s). Very happy with both places.

Redco is great. But like Chris suggested, GLS is solid for off the shelf stuff, since you just need standard length, common cables.

Thanks everyone. Looks like Redco or GLS are the winner. I actually have Monoprice right now. I've seen where they, at times, have been wired differently and I'm wondering if that could be part of my phase inversion challenge.

Sounds like a static installation, not a lot of plugging and such too, so cheap cables would be fine. But as I've said before, I have gls XLR cables that are 10+ years old that still get used regularly, so I don't think quality is a problem.

Redco is highly recommended. I've also ordered from Pro Audio LA and am very satisfied. I'm spoiled though, Redco is literally 20 minutes door to door for me.

Definitely Redco. All of my DB25-XLR snakes are by Redco using their wire and connectors. Top notch stuff.

Do you know if the Redco wire is made for them by Mogami?? The 8 channel Redco snakes I've seen look like Mogami cable.

I have used both side by side and the redco is not the same as the Mogami 26xx formula...it may be closer to the standard non-numbered cable. I didn't really believe all the stuff about Mogami until I started doing the patchbays and E90s. I was a big Canare fan, but the Mogami 26xx cable is much easier to work with which saves time. The redco was close but not quite as easy to work. I still use Canare for individual cables though.

Believe it or not, finally ordered the GLS you recommended svart. Swapped them over lunch today, and wow...big difference. Mics/pres are rounder, deeper, and less thin/harsh. Didn't know what I was missing. Only downside is I wish I would have done this before I started this mic demoing process. Thanks for suggesting these.

Get an iron and some 63/37 solder.Get a 40 watt iron. C'mon, buddy - you can do it!
You'll also need a solder sponge to clean the tip and some paste flux. This is a really basic skill and a perfect project to learn it on.

I would not trust Amazon for this, although I do order a lot of stuff from them. I've also got burned a few times.
Redco is reliable quality.

Chinese cables suck dog balls. And the dog isn't happy.
