Eh 4 Auxes and 4 Groups. That's pretty good. An SSL Duality only has 4 Auxes and 1 stereo cue send... Plus some other cool features. I think it's a strong contender for a nice console with plenty of options. But again, I'd go for the JCF one personally. That JCF is going to be $150k though. That's a pretty substantial difference. I feel like I must be the only dinosaur these days that still does headphone mixes on the console. I'd love to have a board with 6-8 stereo auxes. If this Looptrotter was half the price though, I'd probably already have one in my studio. Not a lot of boards with that many auxes. i mixed on an Soundcraft MH2 for a while and it had a lot of auxes or groups. Like maybe 8 Aux and 4 stereo groups. Was a lot of outputs.

If they had made the stereo cue easily switchable pre /post fader it would make this thing far more useable. To me this proves that this thing was meant for a high dollar dumbed down market. In other words “Dude you’re goin get a NEVE” I think a pair of 8816’s would be almost as functional.

The trident 78 seems another option for a similar price and has eq's and preamps supplied.
That new Sound Techniques board looks really cool (way more $$$), but i'm a bit of a Trident nut and i'm currently transfixed by it..

We need more DIY console options! It is such a disappointment that the Tonelux format didn’t take off. It wasn’t perfect but it was a scalable modular console format.

Well, it's really possible that a Silver Bullet would make the same difference on the sonic quality of a recording than this Neve console. On the "sonics" level - not the workflow perspective - yeah, absolutely- without a doubt in my mind. And actually, perhaps even a greater sonic level due to two completely different sonic pallets - API/NEVE.
I can underline this by the fact that drbill opinions on sonics (harmonics and other artifacts) totlay changed the way how I use it, both ways ITB and OTB. Bill hates it, but it also made my ITB mixes a million times better. I just cant let go the DMP otherwise I would be a SB owner.....
BACK TO TOPIC.
I can see the advatages in using a console. I also can see the advantages using a virtual mixing console.
It all depends how I work.
In my workflow doing this and that working for guitar classes, the next day I track guitars for friends. Having a real console I would go crazy.

I don't hate your workflow mrholmes - if it works for your esthetic, that's great. It just doesn't work for me. I'm way past thinking that everyone should work the same way. For those whose esthetic is similar to mine, they tend to gravitate to a hybrid workflow. For those who love old school, nothing beats a console and tape machine(s). For many, a laptop in a backpack is nirvana. Pick your poison.....
